MM Online - Ipoh council to probe notice filled with spelling errors.

IPOH, Jan 1 — The Ipoh City Council is prepared to take strict action against one of its employees responsible for producing a public notice filled with grammatical errors.
The notice was pasted to the glass doors of the Ipoh Tourism Information Centre here, and subsequently went viral.

It was meant to inform the public about the centre’s temporary closure but ended up drawing attention for all the wrong reasons.

The notice stated: “Sorry for the complementary, we are closing for the temporary, Saturday 30/12/2017 and Sunday, 31/12/2017 because we had an unexpected problem within with our networking and air conditioner issue. We are sure that we are been operated on 2nd Jan 2018. Tq”

Ipoh Mayor Datuk Zamri Man said the council’s investigations found that the notice was produced by an employee working at the centre.

Zamri said the council would call up the employee to get an explanation over the errors.

“We will ask for a detailed explanation of how this could happen,” said Zamri in a statement issued via Whatsapp.

“If we find that there was a clear incidence of carelessness, and that the mistake was made without thinking of the consequences to the council, we will take action.

Elaborating further, Zamri said the council would issue a show-cause letter to the employee so their explanation can be put on record.

“If there has been a clear mistake, we will also issue a stern warning to the employee.

“We will also advise this individual to ensure that this mistake does not happen again.”

I don't like the threat that Ipoh Mayor Zamri Man has made against the employee responsible for that notice.

Besides, what is there to call the erring employee for? Everyone knows the problem, f*, just fix it.

The reason why the notice had been in piss-poor English has been because that bloke has a poor command of English due to his piss-poor education which came about due to piss-poor Education Ministers, who had piss-poor management of the Education Ministry and its piss-poor policies, plans and programs, and apart from all these piss-poor whatnots, the Ipoh City Council has piss-poor supervision, wakakaka.

[Mahathir, Anwar Ibrahim, AAB, Najib Razak, Muhyiddin Yassin, Hishamuddin Hussein  were all Education Ministers besides others, wakakaka]

Once upon a time, the power of the Education Minister was in the corp of Malay teachers who held mucho grass root influences. Through the corp the Minister held the greatest political influence in the Heartland, hence the ministry was a vital step in UMNO for a wannabe party president and PM.

To ensure the corp of Malay teachers support him, the Minister would be up to 'Pahlawan Melayu' acrobatics, gimmicks and ultra-Malay nationalism. Most of them, with one or two rare exceptions, kicked the Education Ministry around like a political football for their own political interests and advancement in UMNO.

Today we have less dedicated UMNO supporters who prefer to bodek the Finance Minister rather than the Education Minister, wakakaka.

Once we had the best Education system and the best English language speaking society in Asia. Regional students (especially from Thailand, Indonesia) flocked to Penang to acquire proficiency in English language. The notices with poor command of English at the Ipoh Tourism Information Centre and an earlier one at KB Airport have been the consequences of those Education-Ministerial follies.

Thus, Mayor Zamri Man should not blame a Gurkha - it's too easy for him to scold and bully a lowly raking member of the Council staff - but instead point his fingers at those Education Ministers, if he has the guts.

I hope the mayor has or will fix this instead

But having said all above, to wit, identifying the source of our national poor proficiency in English, I have to admire that bloke (or lassie) for his-her daring (though somewhat Ah Beng-ish, wakakaka) attempt at communication in English, as I had praised the earlier 'Mary Christmas and Happy New Years', as half a glass FULL rather than half a glass EMPTY, wakakaka.

F**k it, Qui audet adipiscitur (Who Dares Wins), wakakaka.

  2. English is the official or unofficial language of the world. It all depends on whom you ask. Now,Mandarin is becoming the world's number two official or unofficial language. It also depends on whom you ask too.

It was during the time of Anwar as education minister that he started to have the Melayu ketuahnan mentality and started relegating the English language to a third world dialect. And the morons of PKR wants him to be their only choice for PM?It is time to let loose the Arabian camels and let them fuck these morons kau kau.

  3. Many many years back, some friends of mine attending seminars overseas, got a shock of a shock, maybe a baby tsunami, when many Malaysian speakers spoke in front of attendees from many countries with broken English. So it is of no surprise when some small clerks or officers wrote or spoke in pasar or kampong English.

    1. You're right of course - I did write "the Ipoh City Council has piss-poor supervision"

but I have to admire the can-do attitude of the staff member who posted the information despite his or her piss-poor English, wakakaka
