Glass houses

While Dr Asri was once well respected, indeed even by non Muslim, his disdain for Hindu Indians has been known in which he had previously expressed his dislike for Thaipusam processions particularly the rites of breaking coconuts. That unfortunately has tainted his otherwise fair disposition.

See my February (2017) post: Negotiating with the Divine. Wakakaka.

a popular Thaipusam rite, practised enthusiastically by Chinese

His recent poem against cows worshippers (or what he claimed to be the Modi government) could only confirm his disdain of Hindus and their beliefs, and where his expressions were also in defence of an Indian national who is wanted by his own government for alleged terrorist-related activities.

How could a man like Zakir Naik, wanted by his own government for terrorist-telated activities and where the charges carried non bailable terms, be worthy of defending.

Besides that bloke is a foreigner. And why did Dr Asri refer to him as "one of our preachers"?

It's not unlike some people who continue to defend Osama or who believe Malaysian notorious terrorist-bomber and mass-murderer Dr Azahari was a lily-white innocent and good man.

A mass murderer innocent? Then I must be the Shahanshah of Perlis.

We all have our own religious beliefs but to ignorantly term Hindus as cow worshippers is simplistic and shallow, ignoring the cultural, historical, agro-economic and social significance of the cow in Indian communities.

It's like labelling followers of another religion as worshippers of a black stone or 2 crossed pieces of wood.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

  1. If Dr Asri cannot respect other's religions, then how can he expect others to respect his religion or him?How people practice their religions is no business of him.As long as they do not break his twin coconuts,he should consider himself lucky.Maybe he got his fake Dr certification from same school as Dr Tee Ridzuan(fake Malay).

  2. O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers. (Alquran 49.11)

And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah , lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and HE WILL INFORM THEM ABOUT WHAT THEY USED TO DO. (Alquran 6.108)

who are 'we' to judge people's faith?.
