Man's best friend recognized as good mates

TMI in its article ‘I want to touch a dog’ event a big hit with Muslims reported:

TMI photo

Siti Sakinah Meor Omar Baki has been afraid of dogs all her life. Not only that, she was told that touching dogs is not allowed in Islam. That was the mentality and teaching instilled in her by her conventional family.

But today, Siti Sakinah, along with her four children, turned up at Central Park in Bandar Utama, Selangor, to participate in the "I want to touch a dog" event to overcome her fear.

"It is also to show that touching a dog is not haram. People are worried about touching the dogs more as it’s a sin instead of worrying about the biggest sins," said Siti Sakinah, a former religious teacher who currently works with an NGO.

She said her husband, an ustaz, gave her the permission to attend today's event.

"I wanted to jump for joy when he said 'yes' and I told my children they had to go. And all of them came today with me to overcome their fear and to learn that dogs are also creatures created by Allah that need love and care," said Siti Sakinah, who touched and petted a few dogs at the event.

"I am still scared of big dogs so I am touching the small ones first," she said gleefully.

Siti Sakinah and her children were among the many families who turned up at the event which was attended by more than 1,000 people.

The organiser of the event, Syed Azmi Alhabshi, said he was satisfied with the turnout.

"We only expected 60 but this is way more than 60. This is overwhelming and I hope I provided enough water for the dogs and apologise for any shortcomings," he said.

Syed Alhabshi expected 60 people but WoW, more than 1000 turned up.

wish I had been that lucky dog, wakakaka

The real gain is that Muslims are no longer prepared to believe what those false prophets or people who misused the good name of the Prophet (pbuh) said. Read this article about dogs (reproduced below) from the website of True Islam which claims its teachings are derived from the Quran.

"You would think they were awake, when they were in fact asleep. We turned them to the right side and the left side, while their dog stretched his arms in their midst" - 18:18

Are they dirty, prohibited animals?

It is traditional among Muslims all over the world to regard the dog as a dirty animal that when touched would void the wudu (ablution) and infect the one who touched it with "nagasah" (dirty impurity)!

Sadly, this concept comes from fabricated hadith which claims that the Prophet ordered the killing of dogs and gave numerous hadith that prohibit the keeping of dogs except for hunting and guarding, due to their dirty status!

However, by studying the Quran we find no such truth. No where in the Quran are dogs prohibited, nor is there any mention of any contaminating effect of these lovely animals who are man's best friend. Consequently, we must dismiss all these hadith that fabricate lies against the Prophet.

1- God tells us in the Quran about the story of the dwellers of the Cave (Surah 18). In verse 13 God tells us that they were good believers and that God guided them. In verse 18 God tells us that they had their dog with them.

Now if dogs are prohibited and dirty, would God speak of those dwellers of the Cave (who had a dog) as good believers?

2- In 5:4 God tells us that it is okay to eat what the trained dogs catch (dogs are used in hunting). Now if the dog is an animal which causes contamination by mere touch, would God tell us it is perfectly okay to eat what the dog catches with his mouth (let alone just touch the dog)?

3- The Quran contains a very important rule for all believers, and the rule is:

Nothing is haram (unlawful) unless it is prohibited by God Himself, and since God describes the Quran as complete, perfect and fully detailed, thus all the prohibitions decreed by God are found in the Quran. The following Quranic verses confirm this truth:

Say, "Who prohibited the nice things God has created for His creatures, and the good provisions?"
Say, "Such provisions are to be enjoyed in this life by those who believe. Moreover, the good provisions will be exclusively theirs on the Day of Resurrection." We thus explain the revelations for people who know.” - 7:32

“Shall I seek other than God as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed?” - 6:114
“You shall not utter lies with your own tongues stating: "This is halal (lawful), and this is haram (unlawful)," to fabricate lies and attribute them to God. Surely, those who fabricate lies and attribute them to God will never succeed.” - 16:116

There is not one verse in the Quran where God says that dogs are dirty or that they are prohibited to keep.

4- Is it logical that God would create an animal to be man's best friend and serve him in many ways, and then prohibit such an animal?

5- If this is what the Quran has to tell us about the issue of dogs, then where does all the prohibition come from? Where do the claims that dogs are dirty animals which if touched would void our ablution and render us impure come from? As most other corruptions which have crept into Islam, the source is always the fabricated hadith which are falsely attributed to prophet Muhammad!

Hadith tell us that the Prophet prohibited the keeping of dogs as pets. Other hadith tell us that angels won't enter a room where there is a dog. Other hadith tell us that if we touch a dog our ablution is void and we become impure, and that we have to wash seven times to clean this impurity, the final time in dust. That seems inconsistent with the Quran saying you may eat what they catch for you! Some other hadith go even beyond that to say that we must kill all black dogs!

The following are some examples:

Malik's Muwatta, Book 54, Number 54.5.13:

"Malik related from Nafi from Abdullah Ibn Umar that the Messenger of God ordered all dogs (other than sheepdogs or hunting dogs) to be killed".

Ibn Hanbal's collection: The Messenger of God said: "You shall kill all black dogs, because they are devils."

The question is: Did the Prophet really issue these prohibitions? In addition, did the Prophet have the authority to issue these prohibitions?

The answer is given in the Quran:

"O you prophet, why do you prohibit what God has made lawful in order to please your wives? God is Forgiver Merciful" 66:1

Obviously God did not include the words in 66:1 in the Quran to belittle the Prophet in our eyes, but these words are placed in the Quran in order to confirm to all believers across all time that the Messenger of God does not have the authority to prohibit anything which is not prohibited by God. God is the only Law Maker (6:114) and the only duty of the messenger is to deliver God's message (5:92).

The outcome of all the above is that we must discard all the lies attributed to the prophet regarding  prohibiting dogs and be focused on the Quran as the only source of guidance and religious law.

Kassim Ahmad has been right all along that the 'priesthood caste or ulama have become 'dictators' of the Muslim's understanding of his Islam. He had stated: "This class of priests control the interpretation of religion to the masses. They are dictators. There is no freedom."

As reported by TMI, He riled up Muslims on both sides of the divide when he questioned the use of hadith to interpret the Quran, and described the Prophet as "just a messenger of Allah".

In his lecture titled "The Nation's Direction in the Next Thirty Years", Kassim also questioned the hijab (Islamic headscarf) worn by Muslim women, saying that "the hair is not part of the aurat" (parts of the body which need to be covered according to Islamic teachings).

We have also heard (from TMI):

Dr Syed Farid Alatas, an associate professor at the Sociology Department, National University of Singapore, expressed disbelief over the recent proposal by Kelantan to impose jail term and fine on Muslim men who miss Friday prayers for three consecutive weeks.

"I read that the Kelantan state government intended to fine Muslim men RM1,000 and sentence them to a year's jail if they skipped Friday prayers three times in a row.

"While I agree that society needs rules and regulations, it is immoral and unethical to propose such drastic action on those who do not perform Friday prayers regularly.

"There is an imbalance here as respect for the sanctity of personal life has been completely disregarded. This is bordering on coercion without taking civil liberties into account."

There is this obsessive need by clerics to bully and threaten people so the ulama can hold on to unchallenged power.

See my earlier post Theocratic 3 P's - prohibit, persecute & punish.

TMI also reported: Syed Farid cited another example of a controversial fatwa issued by a former Saudi Arabian grand mufti that the sun orbited the earth instead of vice versa.

The fatwa was issued in 1966 by the late Sheikh Abdul Aziz Abdullah, who claimed that the sun orbited the earth, as the earth was fixed and stable.

My God (sorry, I can't use the 'A' word) or by Jove (Jove or Jupiter was the Roman God), a fatwa on heliocentrism in 1966!?!

This moronic stupidity was exactly what had caused Galileo Gallilei to be charged for heresy more than 300 years ago, in 1633.

Then, Galileo Galilei got into a whole lot of trouble with the Catholic 'priesthood caste', wakakaka, for saying the exact scientific truth, that our Earth moved around the Sun. He was charged for heresy and placed under house arrest for life (yes, for life) because his scientific statement had questioned the teachings of the Holy Scriptures which emphasized on the 'centrality' of Earth in the universe.

What upset the church was Copernicus' theory of Heliocentrism (Sun as the central body in our solar system with Earth orbiting it) conflicting with or threatening the biblical story of the Battle of Gideon as narrated in the Book of Joshua.

where Amorites were when Israelites invaded their country

About one and one-half thousand years before Yehoshua ben Yosef was born (hope you Christians know who he was, wakakaka), the Israelite army led by Joshua in their invasion of Canaan was winning their battle against the native Amorites, but their enemies were likely to escape once daylight gave way to nightfall.

So, according to the bible (written of course by Joshua's descendants, wakakaka) Joshua prayed to YHWH and caused the sun and the moon to stand still in order for the Israelites to finish off their slaughter of the natives in broad daylight (excuse the pun, wakakaka).

Joshua causing the sun to stay still so the Israelite army could continue their genocidal slaughter of the natives of the land Israelites were invading

The bible claims YHWH was the Creator, but alas, like an unfair parent who favoured one child over another, YHWH even gave the Israelites a hand with his heavenly artillery, raining hailstones on the natives of the land (supposedly also his creation), an act not unlike the usual massive USAF bombardment of a country prior to an American military invasion.

The Bible in Joshua 10: 11 -14 (KJV) tells us:

And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.

Joshua and men slaughtering the Amorites with YHWH's help

Amen. But that Saudi Arabian grand mufti memang ta'boleh harap dan ta'boleh dipercayai. Pordah to his 'priesthood caste'.

And Wikipedia tells us:

The historian William Montgomery Watt states that Muhammad's kindness to animals was remarkable given the social context of his upbringing.

He cites an instance of Muhammed, while traveling with his army to Mecca in 630 CE, posting sentries to ensure that a female dog and her newborn puppies were not disturbed.

On the other hand, in a tradition found in the Sunni hadith book al-Muwatta, Muhammad is reported as saying that the company of dogs voids a portion of a Muslim’s good deeds. However, in "two separate narrations by Abu Hurayrah, the Prophet told his companions of the virtue of saving the life of a dog by giving it water and quenching its thirst.

One story referred to a man who was blessed by Allah for giving water to a thirsty dog, the other was a prostitute who filled her shoe with water and gave it to a dog, who had its tongue lolling out from thirst. For this deed she was granted the ultimate reward, the eternal Paradise under which rivers flow, to live therein forever."

According to a Sunni narration classified as authentic by Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, black dogs are a manifestation of evil in animal form; Khaled Abou El Fadl states that the majority of scholars regard this to be "pre-Islamic Arab mythology" and "a tradition to be falsely attributed to the Prophet".

Thus, according to Khaled Abou El Fadl, for a Muslim to believe black dogs are a manifestation of evil in animal form is in fact to believe in pre-Islamic Arab mythology, and to indulge in

    1. I don't thinks so 'coz pork is expressively prohibited by the Quran while dog is not - that's the BIG difference so you should not allow your annoyance to mask this Quranic fact

    2. though prohibited, tapi boleh dimakan if no other food available in order to survive. allah (swt) maha pemurah & maha penyayang.

  2. Last year in July, dog trainer Maznah Mohd Yusof was arrested for her YouTube video showing her bathing her dogs. So you can expect similar reaction this time, already you have the former Johor mufti & Jakim issuing statements.

    1. MKINI reported that the organizer had teh foresight and prudence to obtain approval from MAIS (wakakaka) and the Selangor police so WTF can Jakim or the Johor mufti do?

    2. Maznah was arrested for allegedly insulting Islam through her videos.
Whether the organizer here obtained approval for their event is almost irrelevant.
It looks to me there is a major problem with the Rule of Law in Malaysia or lack of.

    3. Hold your horses.

Let's see in the coming days the reactions of the authorities which purportedly approved the event. Eventually it is not the interpretation or accuracy of the holy words that will determine the outcome; there will be pressure from various quarters and the authorities will be forced to take action, just like in the girl's case last year.

We have been through this road before.

    4. cowards panicked liao lah, wakakaka - now trying to 'act dunno'

  3. I will confess to my limited knowledge of Islam, but in my travels through many countries, I have seen many Muslim who keep dogs around their homes.

I'm not certain they were kept as pets - but it is definitely impossible to keep , feed and train dogs without touching them, or coming into contact with dog fur, saliva and their body in general.

Arabs, for example, often keep dogs around their homes or tents out in the desert.
I was told dogs make excellent sentries , well trainable, obedient, and with excellent sense of hearing and smell to detect intruders from a long way off.

My hosts were definitely Sunni Muslims, often devout , so I have never been able to reconcile such travel experience with claims, heard especially in Malaysia, that touching dogs is Haram in Islam.

Any Muslims here care to give their input ?

  4. Dog shit versus cat shit.
    Which is more smelly ?

  5. Dog's saliva is definitely najis to a Muslim (a najis which is the same as pig). Because dogs lick their fur/hair, thus their hair/fur can be najis too. A Muslim cannot keep dog as a pet.

They are many hadiths on dogs and how to cleanse oneself, i.e. samak with six parts of water and one part of mud.

If you refer to sunnah (the practices of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.), Muhammad did not keep dogs or touch dogs.

On the verse from surah kahfi (18:18) it is actually a narration about faith in God of a few youths who had slept in the cave for about 309 years. There was one dog with them who slept in front or the mouth of the cave. The time was before Prophet Jesus and before Prophet Muhammad.

Muslims of Ahlussunah Wal Jamaah must follow the Quran, the Hadith and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad i.e. the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and not of any other Prophets.

There are of course Muslims who reject the Hadith and Sunnah i.e. reject Prophet Muhammad and thus they automatically reject the priesthood caste. Hence, they do not belong to the Ahlussunah Wal Jamaah group.

However, it is not haram to touch a dog if the dog is dry. But what about the perspiration one one's palm? If you become "was was" than you must samak yourself.

    - hasan

    1. hasan thanks. I won't argue with you as you have far more superior knowledge on islam though of course my post seems to confirm Kassim Ahmad's assertion that some hadiths attributed to the Prophet (pbuh) were only by name dropping, meaning it wasn't the Prophet (pbuh) but some ulama claiming it was the Prophet (pbuh).

The extract from True Islam also supports the case that islam as per the Quran did not and presumably does not consider dog an unclean creature..

However, on unclean creature I cannot but help noticing that cats also lick their fur, in fact more frequently than dogs. Cats are also known to be more prone to carrying diseases than dogs

Cats are actually big big big culprits in the transmission of diseases to humans. The house felines are very susceptible to avian flu virus, as the Eramus Medical Centre in Rotterdam had indicated. Besides avian flu, cats are also known to be susceptible to the SAR Virus. This viral double jeopardy appears to condemn domestic cats as a real health menace. Vets have advised that cat feces particularly contain lots of diseases harmful to humans.

On 19 June 2006 the NST reported that a cat was found infected with the deadly H5N1 virus in Indonesia, in the first such case in that country.

Steven Bjorge, Medical Officer for Communicable Disease of the World Health Organisation said the cat was infected after having eaten contaminated birds.

“We have evidence from one cat in Indonesia that has already been infected by this virus,” he told Jakarta’s Foreign Correspondents’ Club. The disclosure came just days after Indonesia confirmed its 38th death from avian influenza caused by the H5N1 virus, placing the country in second place behind Vietnam’s 42 deaths.

But I perceive and I'm sure you'll agree that most Malays love cats and some keep more than just one in their house.

    2. I'm no animal lover !
A stray dog would usually keep its distance after it has been chased away by throwing a stone or a stick. But when a cat is kicked away under the table in a coffee shop, it would come back again and again to be kicked !

    3. abu hurairah literally means 'bapak kucing kecil'

  6. Won't be surprised if the grand mufti is credited with successfully chasing away the Sky Dog during the eclipse of the moon!

  7. I just want to inform you that I know this guy Syed Azmi Alhabshi of lives in TTDI and whose parents are very well educated. I also know Ustaz Mohd Iqbal Parjin who gave a talk on dogs at the event. I meet this Ustaz Iqbal every wednesday night at a madrasah in TTDI Jaya to listen and discuss about religious topics. Indeed, both of them have got good intention in hosting the event and they meant well. In fact two of my nieces were at the event. The photographs in their FB showed that they both cuddled a dog at the event. My wife touches her non-muslim friend's dog Ashley whenever she visits her but she always samak herself when she comes back. This is because she has the 'was was' feeling of her palm's perspiration on Ashley's fur. It is not about haram but it is about 'najis mughalazah' which if she is not cleansed from the aforesaid najis, her solat or prayers would not be accepted by God. OTH cat's saliva is not 'najis mughalazah'. I keep two persian cats at home. On the diseases spread by cats and dogs - they are different from the religious issue which we can of course debate.

    - hasan

    1. hasan, as I mentioned I won't debate with you as I concede to your superior knowledge though I have read the assertions by the article by True Islam and several websites dealing with the subject of dogs' standing in Islam, namely it's not an unclean creature as per the Quran, nor had the Prophet himself (pbuh) directly ever said so

    2. Hi, Hasan,

You might remember me - we had a short discussion here in KT's blog about Muslim poets - Sadi, Rabindranath Tagore - some time back.

About the status of dogs in the eyes of Muslims, you might be interested to see what "OutSyed The Box" blog has to say about the matter. A ranking official from Jakim had an issue with this "Pet a dog" event and was displeased about it. OutSyed The Box made a strong case that dogs are not seen as unclean in the Quran.

If you are keen to read the article you may have to do it now because the blog articles are removed after only two or three days. You will not be able to access them once they are gone.

  8. How can one of God's beautiful creatures be unclean ?

  9. The original reason for the saliva of dogs being considered unclean was empirical observation that rabies, which still is a very dangerous disease, is spread via the saliva of infected dogs.

Just as it was observed that people could get ill from eating pork.
Now we know the actual danger came from improperly cooked pork, just as the danger comes from rabies infected dogs.

    1. Well....Malaysia is officially rabies-free, as acknowledged by the WHO.
So touching well-kept dogs isn't a health issue.

What may have been sensible health advice 1400 years ago in rabies-endemic Arabia , a terrifying deadly illness without a cure has translated into a religious and spiritual controversy in Rabies-free Malaysia in the 21st century.

    Lee Chong Wei doping scandal......
    Malaysia Boleh....

    1. Shame ! Shame ! Shame !

    2. With all the coaches, trainers , nutritionists, .........
and all his long experiences and deep knowledge of the rules of the game, if doping is confirmed, there's no excuse at all, SHAME on him ! Withdraw all the awards !

  11. I want to touch.....oh well.....don't want to get your blog into trouble....wakakaka

  12. Ktemoc is a coward.
He insults Jewish writings in the Bible almost daily because he knows there are absolutely no consequences.
Similarly idiocy in Muslim Quran and Sunnah writings earn ever so polite, gentle , indirect, circumlocutious beating around the bush.....cause he is afraid of Big Brother.

  13. Hi Anon 10.05

Yes I remember our discussion on Tagore.

OutSyed The Box (“OTB”) wrote: “What does the Quran say about dogs?” OTB then said “Now here is Surah 5:4 of the Quran, I have reproduced NINE different translations of this verse: (I have kept the translators choice of words. I have added the word “HALAL” where it occurs in the original Arabic Quran)”.

OTB emphasized: ‘ I have added the word “HALAL” ’. What is his intention?

    My Comment:

From Sahih International: Surah Al-Maidah 5:4 “They ask you, [O Muhammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say, “Lawful for you [all] good foods and [game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as Allah as taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah upon it, and fear Allah.”

I notice that in the NINE translations offered by OTB, there is not even one translation that had mentioned Muhammad. In addition, OTB did not mention what does the Hadith or the Sunnah say about dogs? WHY?

As I have mentioned in my comment, there is a group of Muslims who reject Prophet Muhammad, the Hadith and the Sunnah. Is OTB also thinking that Prophet Muhammad, the Hadith and the Sunnah, can be separated or should be separated from the Quran? If he thinks so, then he is not from the Ahlussunnah Wal Jamaah group?

If Quran is supposed to be the “thing” and the ONLY reference for Muslims; how does a Muslim take the wudhu (ablution) and perform the solat (pray)? The Quran never teaches how to take the wudhu and perform the solat. So, perhaps can Muslims just pray free-style and without taking the wudhu? If the answer is yes then that Muslim does not belong to the Ahlussunah Wal Jamaah group?

Perhaps, OTB should also first mention Surah 5:3 of the Quran. In Surah 5:3; it says: “Prohibited to you are dead animals…. except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death]… “

Now, when you read Surah 5:3 in conjunction with Surah 5:4; the key words are 1) except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death]; and 2) [game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as Allah as taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah upon it, and fear Allah.

Today, even if animals take a Muslim hunter’s bullet, most of it do not die instantly, it would still gives the hunter enough time to slaughter the game while mentioning the word Bismillah….

O Yes, OTB also mentioned Surah Kahfi 18:18: “their dog stretching forth his two fore-legs on the threshold ….” which confirms the point in my comment that the dog slept at the entrance or at the mouth of the cave; and not in the midst of the youths.

As I have said dog is not haram to touch. Follow the Quran, the hadith and the sunnah if Muslims want dogs to be their houseguards, etc..etc..

I have opined that Syed Azmi and also Ustaz Iqbal have good intention in regard to this event. Afterall, the caption of the even is 'I want to touch dog'. However, some even went to the extent of cuddling the dogs. That can be sensitive and misinterpreted and/or capitalised by orang tidak betul pemikiran. Because to keep dogs as pets and roaming freely in Muslim's houses - it is a big NO?

Once Archangel Gabreil did not come to meet Prophet Muhammad in his house at a promised time. When Muhammad asked Gabriel why? Gabriel said there was a dog under his bed. Muhammad did not even know that there was a dog under his bed. Muhammad then asked Aishah to shoo the dog away.

    You be the judge.

    - hasan

    1. Question - There is a group of Muslims who reject Prophet Muhammad, the Hadith and the Sunnah. Then, r these people of any lesser Muslim than those who adhered to the doctrine of Ahlussunnah Wal Jamaah?

Question - The Quran never teaches how to take the wudhu and perform the solat. Then, who creates the ritual as demanded by the doctrine of Ahlussunnah Wal Jamaah, bearing in mind that there r people who dont believe in the Hadith or the Sunnah?

Question - Isnt this in violation to the Quranic command that ONLY what is mentioned in the Quran is the TRUTH? What’s wrong with praying free-style and without taking the wudhu? Isnt the ’communion' exist between Allah & the prayer ONLY? Or r those praying without performing the wudhu is insulting the communion with Allah & thus cant be one with God?

      U should check this ;

for a better judgment about the interpretations, as mentioned in Quran.

Dont just clean sweep all those alternative interpretations as by orang tidak betul pemikiran! U could very well be the one!!!!

    2. Hi, Hasan

This is {Anon 10:05 pm, October 21}. Thanks for your detailed comment above. However, it's way over my head (being a non-Muslim). ;-)

  14. I find OutSyed The Box one of the saner Malay/Muslim bloggers from the penyokong UMNO side.
Still, he can't avoid the inherent stain as well as the mental blocks from being an UMNO machai.

    1. very apt description of encik Syed ! I salute your rather keen perceptiveness.

  15. Non-Muslims must not interfere with the administration of Islam in Malaysia.

    1. Then be more specific & stating that M'sia is a SECULAR state!

U don't force yr Islamic rules &/or sensitivities upon the Nons. Keep out of our traditions & affairs, too!

Bearing in mind that ALL these while, it's u (a Muslim) who wants to intrude upon the Nons' affair!

  16. Anon 3.14

    1) On Solat (Prayers) and Wudhu (Ablution):

Solat is the second pillar of Islam. Muslims must at least offer five daily prayers as performed by Prophet Muhammad. He took the wudhu before he offered the prayers. No solat is accepted without ablution.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah : Allah’s Messenger said, “The solat of a person who passes urine, stool or wind is not accepted till he performs (repeats) the ablution. [Sahih Al-Bukhari 1:137-O.B].

    2) On Ahlussunah Wal Jamaah:

Narrated by Abdullah bin Amr : Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said: “Dan umatku akan terpecah menjadi tujuh puluh tiga golongan. Semuanya akan masuk neraka kecuali satu golongan”. Lalu sahabat bertanya, “Siapakah mereka itu wahai Rasulullah?” Nabi SAW menjawab, “Golongan itu adalah orang-orang yang berpegang pada semua perbuatan yang telah aku lakukan, serta semua perbuatan yang dikerjakan oleh sahabat-sahabatku.” [Al-Tirmidzi, 2565].

    3) On – “Dont just clean sweep all those alternative interpretations as by orang tidak betul pemikiran! U could very well be the one!!!!”

By all means: You be the judge.

    - hasan

    1. By all means: You be the judge!

3 simple questions of mazhabs get twisted & irrelevant replies!

Either u didnt understand the questions, &/or u r playing the confusing game.

I'd had that coming before when trying to get some straight answers from quite a few ulama/ustaz about the conflicting quotes of hadiths/sunnah vis-a-vis the Quran. U gays r from the same school, eh....

      So, my verdict?

      Deviant follower, period!

    2. That is a standard verdict. What took you so long? Wakakaka...

      - hasan

  17. So many forbidden easy to accidentally trespass on Muslim sensitivities.

Especially in Malaysia, where the "Ketuanan" mentality leads to severe consequences for anyone considered as disrespecting Islam, even totally unintentionally.

So...for the edification of those not familiar with Islamic tenets, we should try to have a list of do's and don'ts

Pigs are unclean I suppose there is a logical basis for this.
Dogs are unclean. There could be a historical basis for this, in Arabia, but very questionable today in Malaysia.

Chicken - OK, but meat must be slaughtered according to prescribed methods.

Any fish which are unclean ? I heard somewhere, but I'm not sure.

Any plants and vegetables which are unclean ?
