If not for the courage of Captain Smit who managed to open the locked armoured cockpit door in spite of his injuries, and , yes, the courage of the plumber several other passengers who overpowered the would-be mass murderer. The plane was seconds away from hitting the ground at near supersonic speeds, and the plumber did what came instinctively. You don't need a air pilot's license to know that pulling back the control yoke will pull the plane's nose up. The flight was fortunate there were two relief pilots in board, who then took over the task of turning the plane, stabilising the flight and finally landing the plane safely.
The physical evidence of what happened is irrefutable.

“An update will be provided at an appropriate time,” she said.
Al-Hammami also reportedly studied aviation management at a university in the UK.

Because in an emergency situation where exits are jammed or people are trapped by objects, it may be necessary to smash through glass , tough plastic or metal using brute force.

I still remember - this was back in the 1970s , in Form 1, I borrowed a book from the St. Xavier's library that explained how an airplane worked in terms that a Form 1 student could understand.
Yup, including how the plane was controlled through turns , banks , elevates and dives, control surfaces such as ailerons, rudder, elevators and flaps.
The Form 1 me understood in principle how a plane was maneuvered up, down, sideways, and yup, about the control column. The Boeing 737's basic controls are really old-school, almost like a WW2 bomber or transport plane.
I don't find it impossible or a lie that a plumber with a curious mind understood what to do to pull the plane up out of its impending fatal dive, especially faced with the ground rushing up within seconds and his wife and kids on board.
The sun doesn't orbit the earth just because you hate Israel with toxic venom.
