‘You just can’t trust Trump’: Canadian premiers fire back in trade war

Provincial premiers have joined Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney, firing back after US President Donald Trump imposed 50% tariffs on about $20bn of Canadian goods. British Columbia Premier David Eby said Trump can’t be trusted.

  1. 47 can’t Trust Carney. See What He Tried to do in 2019……sabo US$. Fortunately he failed miserably, as he always does.

MOTIVE: In 2019, Mark Carney was the head of the Bank of England, he called for the end of the U.S. dollar as the global reserve currency. He spoke of a New World Order and suggested the Chinese Renminbi as a successor. Full text: bankofengland.co.uk/-/media/boe/fi…

  2. Stoooopid Governor…….

While EVERY central bank, including the US, bought gold for their reserves, Mark Carney sold ALL of Canada’s gold reserves at $1200 per ounce. I know, for a fact, he was advised against this. He was told that this wasn’t a good strategy for risk management.

Even still, he sold when the average rate and spot rates at the time were about $1600 per ounce.

Fast forward to today, Gold is now trading at $3200 an ounce. Mark Carney thought he was so innovative and so smart, he screwed us instead of investing more in the very asset that we have so much of in Canada.

It is gross negligence. Gold has been ultimate reserve and store of value for over 5,000 years! In every major global crisis, including wars, defaults, collapses, etc…gold surges in demand precisely because it’s trusted when fiat fails. The presence of gold in central banks sense a signal of market confidence.

As we are seeing now, with the distrust of the US dollar, more central banks are buying it, including Russia and China.

Ideologically weak thinking and policy of Mark Carney, in 2012, is what led to this disastrous decision.

The crazy part is, Mark Carney knows what happened with Gordon Brown doing the exact same thing in the UK 25 years ago when he sold 60% of the UK gold. Knowing this, and knowing he was presented major concerns for risk management of doing this, Carney still sold ALL OF CANADA’S gold.

Please, fact check ALL OF WHAT I’M SAYING.

He FAILED US as the Governor of the Bank of Canada!

  3. One reason the Canada-US trade deal collapsed:

Canada could not promise / would not stop Chinese steel being transshipped into auto parts & then into the U.S. market.

The U.S. requires a strict “melt and pour” rule. Steel must be melted and poured in North America to qualify for preferential treatment.

This stops Chinese steel from entering Canada, getting light processing, and crossing the border as “North American” content to evade tariffs.

Recall The Canadian Steel Producers Association and Aluminium Association of Canada have both publicly confirmed Chinese dumping is happening, warning Canada risks becoming a dumping ground for China’s excess steel and aluminum.

A recent White House report on the “transshipment scam” also listed Canada as a problem country in China’s shadow network for evading U.S. tariffs.

Canada failed to deliver enforceable guarantees. Mexico accepted the melt-and-pour requirements, raised tariffs on Chinese steel and auto parts, and closed the back door.

Canada left it open and the deal fell apart.

  4. Evidently, Canada thinks that "free trade" should only be free for Canada. Crooks!
Ripping off Americans/American business like this deserves for Canada to be crushed with far more than 50% tariffs.

Canadian government is lying about the REAL bad guy is.
Canadian tariffs for years have also included:
    45% tariffs on American HVACs
    245% on American cheese
    298% on American butter
    69% on American sausage
    238% on American chicken
    57.8% on American Barley seed
    26.5% on American meat
    35% on American vaccumns
    35% on American cable boxes
    45% on American TVs
    25% on American steel
    45% on American aluminum
    48% on American copper

Evidently, Canada thinks that "free trade" should only be free for Canada. Crooks!
