- Former Selangor exco Teng Chang Khim criticises the government and "patriots" over recent Jalur Gemilang blunders.
- Teng suggests Malay-rights activists also protest outside Education Ministry over the matter, as they had done to Sin Chew.
Former Selangor executive councillor Teng Chang Khim has taken a jab at the government and certain "patriots" over the latest blunder involving the display of an incomplete Jalur Gemilang.
This follows an apology from the Education Ministry after a snafu involving the national flag, where its SPM Analysis Report was found to contain erroneous depictions of the Jalur Gemilang.

"By the standards of the state and certain patriots, we should also demand that the head of the ministry be suspended from her post, and the prime minister must reaffirm that this is a serious matter to be handled in accordance with the law,” he said on Facebook today.
He added that, by the same logic, "the police must detain the head of the ministry and record her statement”, as well as summon 40 other individuals for questioning.
"Those who went to Sin Chew Daily’s office to protest and call for the cancellation of its printing permit should now proceed to the Education Ministry headquarters to protest and demand its closure.
"And all those ministers who declared lofty patriotic rhetoric should speak up to reprimand the ministry," he added.

Heavy backlash against Sin Chew
On April 15, Sin Chew published an incomplete illustration of the Jalur Gemilang on its front page in conjunction with the coverage of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Malaysia.
The incident drew criticism from various parties, including the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, who said the newspaper’s management and editorial department must be more careful and thoroughly vet materials before publication.
Following the backlash, the newspaper apologised, stating that the mistake was an unintentional technical error.

On April 17, Teng argued that Sin Chew would never deliberately engage in racially sensitive issues, even if the Chinese-language daily had committed a serious, albeit elementary, error.
The daily had also suspended two of its editors over the matter.
On April 18, however, several Malay-rights activists urged Sin Chew to sack the two editors as they viewed an apology was not enough. Multiple police reports were also lodged against the daily.
