KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains committed to a fair resolution regarding the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple issue near Jalan Masjid India.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said he is aware of the matter and has discussed it with the prime minister.

“I have spoken with the prime minister about this issue several times. He takes it seriously and wants a proper resolution,” he told the media after visiting the temple today.

Ramanan also dismissed rumours that the temple would be demolished, clarifying that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is engaged in discussions to find the best possible solution.

“There will be no demolition. Several options are currently being considered to ensure a fair, win-win resolution for all parties.

“The issue concerns land ownership, as the temple is now situated on newly acquired private land.

“As such, it does not directly involve the government. However, the government and DBKL are working together to ensure a smooth process,” he said.

He also urged the public to be mindful of their words and avoid stoking racial or religious tensions that could disrupt social harmony.

“If we look at the comments (on social media), it’s not just ordinary people but also political leaders. So let’s not exploit religious issues,” he said.

Earlier, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif assured that DBKL would not carry out any demolition of the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple.
