LETTER | The incident of the sinkhole tragedy in the Masjid India area is most unfortunate. Malaysians share the agony of the victim's family members.
We, irrespective of our religious differences, pray for a speedy closure to the search and rescue (SAR) operation, which is still in progress (at the time of this letter).
As per reports, the efforts to find Indian national, Vijayaletchumy, 48, from South India have been expanded to include six manholes near the sinkhole location in the Masjid India area.
Our SAR team have risen to the challenge, superbly to risk life and limb, working tirelessly, going down the sewage manholes deserves our praises and nothing less.
Kudos to the team, which includes Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Fire and Rescue Department, Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd and the police for their hard work.
Indeed, our rescue teams have showcased our Malaysian capacity to place duty above self, once again.
As we share the agony of the victim's family, we must accord recognition and applause to the various teams and personnel involved in this operation.
It should re-ignite our hopes in the various organisations whom we often see through the lens of failures and inefficiencies.
