PETALING JAYA: Kindergarten teacher M Indira Gandhi says she is frustrated with the authorities’ lack of progress in finding her daughter, Prasana Diksa, after 15 years.

Her former husband, Muhammad Riduan Abdullah, fled with Prasana in 2009 when she was only 11 months old. He had converted her to Islam without Indira’s consent.

In 2016, the Federal Court ordered the police to execute a warrant of committal on Riduan for contempt of court over his refusal to return Prasana to Indira, who was given full custody over their three children.

The apex court also remitted the case back to the Ipoh High Court for a judge to monitor compliance.

While the Attorney-General’s Chambers had been instructed by the Ipoh High Court to file an affidavit once in three months to outline police efforts in locating Riduan, Indira today said she has yet to see “any concrete evidence” or “a proper investigation” by the police.

“In my opinion, the contents of the affidavits filed by the police over the last four years have been vague and unhelpful in tracing Riduan,” she said in a statement today after today’s judicial monitoring.

“The investigation process, as stated in the affidavits, clearly shows that the police have completely and utterly failed to make any serious efforts in locating him despite the fact that he is the registered owner of vehicles and has even been summoned for speeding.

“I have not seen my child since 2009. My daughter is now 16 years old. She will soon be 18. What are the authorities waiting for?”

The civil court had granted Indira custody of Prasana and her other two children, Tevi Darshiny and Karan Dinesh, while the shariah court had issued an order favouring Riduan.

Riduan took Prasana away from Indira on March 31, 2009. He also converted all three children to Islam. However, another apex court panel quashed their conversions.

  1. Ultimately, she is just a Dhimmi.

Successive IGPs have defied High Court and even Federal Court Rulings in refusing to act on recovering the kidnapped children.
