Irate netizens school “confused” Takiyuddin on “party-hopping”
IT seems like while Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is committed in tabling the anti-hopping law, some of his Cabinet members are just not into it.
Yesterday, Bernama reported Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan as saying that the proposed Bill need further study to prevent any issues from coming up later.
“The term ‘party-hopping’ itself is unclear. Are Independent MPs or state assemblymen considered party members?
“For example, if they want to join other parties, is that considered party hopping?” the PAS leader was reported as asking.
However, netizens were unimpressed with Takiyuddin’s queries and educated him on what anti-hopping law was all about.

Soon after taking over Seri Perdana in August last year, Ismail Sabri signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Opposition to enact laws on several key areas.
Delay tactics by corrupt politicians?
Among the demand made by Pakatan Harapan was to enact an anti-hopping law. It was supposed to be tabled this month but was delayed due to various reasons.
Livid over the matter, Pakatan leaders threatened to revoke the MoU, which prompted the Prime Minister to announce that the Bill would be tabled on April 11, in a special Parliamentary sitting.
On that note, user Tuck Ham Wong jested that it would be difficult to enact an anti-hopping law given that corrupt politicians love money more than anything.
