Farhash gunning for 'traitors' in Gombak PKR

Farhash gunning for 'traitors' in Gombak PKR

PKR's Farhash Wafa Salvador aims to purge the Gombak division of traitors in the party polls.

In a recent interview with Malaysiakini, the former aide to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said Gombak was a stronghold of traitors who torpedoed both the Harapan government and Anwar's ascension as prime minister.

"I stress that my intentions in Gombak are to cleanse the party of traitors, strengthen the party, and bring forth the reform agenda," he said.

Former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali once led the Gombak division.

It is currently being led by Azmin's former protege and successor, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari - whose loyalty to the party is often questioned by Anwar loyalists.

Farhash is widely expected to challenge Amirudin for control of the division.

Asked to confirm this, the former Perak PKR chief remained coy.

"My main objective to enter Gombak is not to become the division chief via party polls.

"As I told Gombak division members, I will contest whatever position is decided by the 'syura' (majority) among Gombak members," he said.

Farhash said he would accept any decision, even if it means not contesting for any posts.

He added that he was also open to talks with Amirudin.

As for allegations that he is an outsider, Farhash said he was raised in Selangor and had once been a Petaling Jaya PKR division member before moving to his mother's home town in Kuala Kangsar.

Besides his ambitions in Gombak, Farhash has also expressed readiness to contest against Rafizi Ramli for the PKR deputy president post if party secretary-general Saifuddin Abdullah does not go for it.
