Wikipedia Caught Dodgy US Congressional Fiddling

Wikipedia has started checking on American, Canadian and British biographies. They have caught judicious editing on the records of some US Congressional representatives (Congressmen and Senators).

Their biographies have been jazzed up while embarrassing ones, like promises that have been broken, removed. The biography of one lawmaker who promised to serve no more than 4 terms but has gone beyond that has had that statement removed. Wikipedia has traced the editing to computers within Congress itself.

It seems the western values of ‘freedom of expression’ and ‘transparency’ certainly have put on a dark cloak and taken on a sneaky character, creeping around in the dark to whitewash and boost up their dodgy conduct.

Why, before too long we could have President Bush as a man of peace, the Likud Party of Israel a branch of Mother Teresa’s order of Diocesan Congregation of the Calcutta Diocese (Missionaries of Charity), and the Yasukuni War Shrine a memorial to the victims of the Rape of Nanjing.

Good on Wikipedia!
