Dark storm clouds seemed to have gathered over Ayer Kuning recently as the polling day for the by-election looms near; and surprisingly, although it's only for a state seat, it looks like the opposition Perikatan National, especially PAS, have brought in their "big guns" to send a clear “signal” that they really mean business!
In fact, in a ceramah, the Islamist party’s revered veteran leader Abdul Hadi Awang appeared to revel in the spotlight as he mercilessly lashed out at both UMNO and its archenemy DAP.
In typical no-holds-barred fashion, the Marang MP mocked UMNO for having gradually lost its fangs ever since it decoupled from PAS; he then added that this was proven by its weak showing in the last general election in 2022.
Hadi also went on to stress that it was actually more appropriate for UMNO to work with PAS rather than Pakatan Harapan in forming the federal government so that the position of Islam can be further strengthened.
He further pointed out that in Malaysia where Muslims form the majority it was imperative that Islam holds sway in the administration of the country and that they should always take important leadership positions while taking into account the rights of others.
Hadi: “In this country the highest political power must always be held by Muslims!”
For the record, Hadi did stress in the past that Malaysians should consider the Madinah Charter as a model for the country's administration based on Islamic Shariah; according to him, under this system, Islam takes precedence in determining cooperation within a pluralistic society, and where secularism, liberalism and ideas such as 'Malaysian Malaysia' must be rejected!
Unsurprisingly, he also took a swipe at DAP whom he labelled as “extreme” for allegedly challenging the authority and principles of Islam and in supporting apostasy; in fact, while on the subject of DAP, he appeared to hint that even the moon (the very symbol of Islam) was “removed” from the national flag in a recent case!
Meanwhile, it was reported that the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) had expressed concern over the PAS president's claim that winning the Ayer Kuning by-election must be given priority over performing the umrah or Haj.
Hadi had reportedly urged Muslims to place political victory “first” over Muslim pilgrimages…?!
Responding to the firebrand PAS leader's controversial claim Jakim had said that it will ensure that Muslims clearly understood the status of umrah and Haj in the context of Islam based on Shariah guidance, and without any misinterpretation; it added that it was now reviewing the contentious statement together with the Federal Territories Mufti Department and other relevant authorities.
It also urged all parties to be cautious when making public comments involving religious issues, so as to avoid confusion among the Muslim community; however, the question that is sure to be in the minds of many is: will Hadi be called up to explain… and will any action be taken against him for uttering statements that may be seen by some as misleading?
Did DAP “remove” the crescent moon from the Malaysian flag…?

Finally, as for the allegation linking DAP to the ongoing saga of the missing crescent moon logo on the Malaysian flag, for which local Chinese news daily Sin Chew had found itself in “hot soup”, the obvious question would be: will Anthony Loke’s party respond with some form of action against the perpetrator for the “slanderous” statement which may have been designed to incite hatred amongst the Malay-Muslim voters in Ayer Kuning…?

Yip, it's a DAP plot to "Cancel Islam"
