KUALA LUMPUR — MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan condemns the disgraceful act of independent preacher Muhammad Zamri Vinoth, who has once again insulted Hinduism by mocking the sacred Hindu Kavadi ritual.
Saravanan, in a statement today, said the remarks by Zamri are irresponsible and disrespectful towards Hindu sentiments.
He stated that Zamri has insulted them by saying they were dancing around like possessed people, as if they were drunk on toddy.
His response came following a social media post by Zamri claiming that people do not find it insulting when “Hindus chant Vel Vel and dance as if they were possessed (macam orang kena rasuk) while intoxicated (mabuk todi).”
“I strongly condemn the irresponsible act of the independent preacher. This is extremely disrespectful and deeply offensive to the Hindu community.
“This is clearly against the 3R stand of the Madani government. There are numerous police complaints against him. Hence, the police must, once and for all, take action against him,” Saravanan pointed out.
He added that such behavior shows insensitivity and reflects a lack of respect for Hindus in the country and the multireligious society, adding that this is a direct insult to the Hindu faith and cultural traditions in Malaysia.
“I call upon PDRM to take immediate action against Zamri Vinoth for his derogatory Facebook post.
“I appeal to the Home Minister to order Zamri to be charged immediately, as this is not the first time the controversial preacher has insulted Hinduism. Each time, he makes excuses for his actions,” the Tapah MP concluded. — March 5, 2025

Harith Iskandar fined RM10K for joking about 'ham sap', so let's see how will the Madani authorities treat Zamri Vinoth for a much more serious offence, if PMX has the guts and guli's to do so!
