AGC wants further probe into Zeti’s husband over 1MDB funds
Tawfiq Ayman, who is married to former Bank Negara Malaysia governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, was previously questioned by police in connection with 1MDB funds.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) had instructed the police to conduct further investigations into Tawfiq Ayman for allegedly receiving funds linked to 1MDB through his company in Singapore, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Tawfiq is the husband of former Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governor Zeti Akthar Aziz.
Deputy home minister Ismail Mohamed Said said police had already completed their probe into the case and the investigation papers were submitted to the AGC on Oct 21.
“However, the AGC then instructed the police to probe the case further,” he said.
Zeti retired as Bank Negara governor in April 2016.
In November, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said it had managed to recover assets and funds linked to 1MDB amounting to RM20.5 billion.
This included the return of assets worth US$15.4 million (RM64.4 million) involving the accounts of Cutting Edge Industries Ltd, which is owned by Tawfiq and Samuel Goh.
Tawfiq had previously been questioned by police in connection with 1MDB funds.

By all means, please investigate Tawfiq, and Zeti as well, if that's where the evidence leads.
