"You still want to lie" catcall at Lim KS

Malaysiakini:

Angered by khat issue, Kit Siang's Johor constituents heckle him

The khat issue continues to haunt DAP with even veteran leader Lim Kit Siang coming in for some rough treatment at a "Hungry Ghost Festival" event at his Iskandar Puteri constituency in Johor.
According to an organiser of the event, Lim was at the receiving end of some heckles and jeers from the crowd which numbered a few hundred.
Ng Siam Luang, special constituency representative to Lim Kit Siang said that in the course of his speech, the DAP MP decided to take the opportunity to explain the khat issue to the audience.
Based on brief video clips of the event, this did not go down well with members of the audience shouting "You still want to lie" and other such phrases to him.
"They also asked why the UEC qualification has not been recognised," Ng said adding that Lim's appearance had been a last-minute surprise.
Asked if Lim was booed, she answered "You know, the festival has always been a bit chaotic. Some of them took alcohol. There were people shouting and I feel some took the opportunity to spice up the issue."
The function's organiser, who asked not to be named, however, said that it happened, "[...] because local people are not happy about the issue of the proposed introduction of the khat script (into Bahasa Malaysia textbooks for Year 4 students in vernacular schools)."
"The mood on the ground over this issue is anger and there were also some MCA people there."
However, he emphasised that it was not a major incident and that Lim didn't leave the event because of it.
"He finished his speech and left because he had another function to attend, that's all," said the organiser who said he felt sorry that Lim had to experience being heckled.

  3. If changing policies of the previous government is as easy as clicking a magic “undo” button I am sure the Harapan government will click it, but the reality is each and every bad old policy must be dismantled piece by piece step by step, and that takes time.

As far as the khat issue is concerned Guanee and Nie Ching have done their best to defuse a situation brought about by the past administration but now MCA is still using DJZ which they fund and control to drag the issue as long as possible, as if it was DAP that wanted to introduce khat.

Never mind, it comes with the job, I am sure Nie Ching will learn from this episode. She may be a deputy minister but she has to contend with a ministry filled with thousands of people with old ideas and ideology.

Guan Eng stresses DAP not taking non-Malay voters for granted

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng stressed that his party has never taken non-Malay voters for granted.

This comes amid pressure the party is facing from the non-Malay community over the government's move to introduce khat lessons in the Year 4 Bahasa Malaysia textbook.

In an interview with Oriental Daily, Lim said it was unfair to accuse the DAP of betraying the Chinese community.

"The DAP has never believed that the Chinese and non-Malay votes are fixed deposit.

"We must work to gain their support based on our performance and that is why we must redouble our efforts," he was quoted as saying.

He said generally, the Pakatan Harapan government has given better treatment compared to BN when it came to vernacular education.

Elaborating on the khat issue, Lim said its formulation was started by the previous BN government.

He said Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching, who is also DAP's Kulai MP, had acted based on information derived during the previous government.

He said ministry officials claimed that they have consulted stakeholders over the planned introduction.

"However, after the situation escalated, we inquired and found out that the previous government did not consult the Chinese community.

"Their so-called stakeholders were not representative of the Chinese community," he was quoted as saying.

As such, Lim said all policies that were initiated by the previous government must now be reviewed by the Pakatan Harapan government before proceeding.

Teo, in particular, has been subjected to social media abuse from DAP grassroots over the khat issue, with some demanding for her resignation.

The DAP has also been accused of being subservient like MCA, which was part of the previous BN government.

Acknowledging the heat DAP ministers and deputy ministers have received, Lim said they will act in the interest of the country.

"As a minister, we must do our best and pay a high price, what is important is that the country does not suffer,' he said.

  4. I have only one thing to say to those hecklers, they've been had, it fits nicely into the pasumno game plan, and that is to make dap and their supporters look as though they are always against Islam, what an added bonus if the supporters turn against the dap, they had better open their eyes because this will be played out again and again from now on

  5. The hecklers were all expected to happen and planned right from the beginning of the Khat issue when blowed up by the press, staged you-tube videos, social medias by none other than instigators both from Deep State, PPBM, DJZ, PAS, BN etc.

Wouldn't LKS even not be invited for the festival do if everyone is disgusted with him? A few hecklers does not represent what the majority of those who are just watching silently before understanding the true situation and knowing what is the final outcome before fully blaming him for the outcome.

It's called not being like Malays who easily become Amok when they become too emotional, which is a mental disease.

    1. Most of these hecklers r just been blinded by the instant rage incited by the sudden appearances of the khat issue.

Thus, many of these hecklers DON'T & CAN'T think clearly, especially with the instant provocations of the politikus seeking this long emotive issue breaking free from the simmering background.

Have they ever thought about IF they really abandoned dap en masse, who is going to look after their interests?

      MCA? Umno? Bn?

      Wakakakakaka…

Indeed, they have been played out, as on the plan hatched by the deep state of the ketuanan agenda!

No help too when dap has to work within the fine lines of coalition compromises - ph govt is a hard earned win that all components party members must be working together. One just can't upset the win JUST bcoz of some rogue fart issues/members playing issues just to cater for their crowds.

Deep blue sea & a rock hard place!

Yet, there r mfers, who STILL think they can do a better jobs by shouting at the sidelines, especially those doublefaced hypocrites, riding on the waves after waves of spurious self-righteousness.
