Who is Going to Take the Fall for the FAM Football Debacle?

Somebody’s head is likely going to roll for the national disgrace our football team has brought upon the country — but the question is, whose?

The fiasco is far too big for us to do the “Malaysian thing” and simply “close one eye.” FIFA, the world’s football governing body, has described what our national team did as “pure and simple, a form of cheating.” That’s not a phrase that gets thrown around lightly.

For context — nine out of eleven players in our national football team were “naturalised” Malaysians. These are individuals who, if you met them, would probably appear to you as foreign visitors rather than national representatives. Out of those nine, FIFA has now determined that seven were not Malaysians at all. Instead, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) allegedly submitted forged and falsified documents to make them appear Malaysian — so they could wear our national colours and win us victories that were never truly ours.

FAM, as expected, is contesting FIFA’s verdict and insists it has done nothing wrong. But what else can it say? Admitting guilt would mean acknowledging a level of disgrace so deep that it would have to, in a sense, decimate itself.

For clarity — the word decimation comes from Ancient Rome, where every tenth soldier in a disgraced legion was executed as punishment for collective failure. If FIFA is correct, and our footballing conduct has indeed been that disgraceful, the Malaysian equivalent might well be due.

FAM’s Slim Chances of Redemption

FAM says it will appeal FIFA’s decision. But from all indications, their chances of success are close to zero.

For one, just look at the names involved: Gabriel Felipe Arrocha, Facundo Tomás Garcés, Rodrigo Julián Holgado, Imanol Javier Machuca, João Vitor Brandão Figueiredo, Jon Irazábal Iraurgui, and Hector Alejandro Hevel Serrano.

These are not Malaysian names — and neither do these players look, sound, or live like Malaysians. Five of them — Figueiredo, Holgado, Irazabal, Garces, and Machuca — were cleared to represent Malaysia just hours before our match against Vietnam on June 10.

FAM calls it a “technical error.” FIFA, however, spent over 6,000 words detailing how it confirmed its ruling — hardly the work of a body that thinks this is a mere paperwork error. FIFA even tracked down the players’ grandparents in their respective countries and found no trace of Malaysian ancestry anywhere:

  • Gabriel Arrocha’s grandmother – Spain
  • Facundo Garcés’s grandfather – Argentina
  • Rodrigo Holgado’s grandfather – Buenos Aires
  • Imanol Machuca’s grandmother – Roldan
  • João Figueiredo’s grandfather – Brazil
  • Jon Irazabal’s grandfather – Spain
  • Hector Hevel Serrano’s grandfather – The Hague, Netherlands

In short, FIFA cross-checked civil registries across multiple nations and found zero verified Malaysian heritage.

FAM’s appeal, therefore, looks less like a genuine fight for truth and more like an attempt to buy time — to figure out who will be thrown under the bus when the reckoning arrives.

The Blame Game Has Begun

That reckoning is already underway. One of the person who has a good chance of being placed at the front of the firing squad is National coach Peter Cklamovski, but if the expectation is that Peter will quietly accept his fate, that seems unlikely. The Australian has already gone public — ridiculing FAM and shifting blame squarely onto the association.

Other than condemn FAM, Peter also has showered praises on Tunku Ismail Ibrahim’s, or more popularly known as TMJ, the crown prince of Johor and the owner and driving force behind the football club JDT.

After leading Malaysia to a 3-0 win against Laos in Vientiane, he said bluntly that the “mess” that led to FIFA’s sanctions was FAM’s doing, not Tunku Ismail Ibrahim’s.

He went further, revealing that Tunku Ismail, the Regent of Johor and the driving force behind Malaysian football’s revival, was the one who secured government funding from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim — RM15 million in taxpayer money under Budget 2025, with another RM15 million expected from the private sector. Whether football will continue receiving such generous allocations in Budget 2026, which will be tabled this evening, remains to be seen.

Cklamovski praised TMJ in glowing terms:

“Without TMJ, Malaysian football would have been finished a long time ago.”

He also contrasted Laos’s pitch conditions favourably to those in Malaysia — saying the fields in the Malaysian Super League were worse. That’s a brutal indictment from the national coach himself.

Cklamovski then turned his guns fully on FAM:

“All the mess with FIFA, the administrative errors – that’s FAM, not TMJ. Without TMJ, Malaysian football is finished.”

He also thanked Malaysian fans and the Ultras for standing by the team and insisted the players were committed, disciplined, and proud to represent the country — even as chaos swirls around them.
Who Will Fall?

So, if not the coach — then who?

Will it be the FAM President, Datuk Joehari Ayub? Someone within the Sports Ministry? Or will FAM itself have to take collective responsibility?

Right now, everyone’s pointing fingers, but sooner or later, someone will have to take the fall. The FIFA sanctions are severe — a CHF350,000 fine for FAM, and 12-month suspensions for the seven ineligible players.

The reputational damage, however, is far greater than the monetary penalty. Our national image — our pride — has taken a blow that will not be forgotten soon.

And as Malaysia prepares to host Laos in Bukit Jalil on October 14, the question hangs heavy in the air:

Who will be the sacrificial goat for this national humiliation?

Because whether it’s a coach, a president, or an entire institution — someone will have to pay for the sins of this “pure and simple” act of footballing fraud.

KUALA LUMPUR – The mother of a 16-year-old girl who was tragically stabbed to death at SMK Bandar Utama 4 on Tuesday revealed the horrifying truth about the attack on her daughter.

In an emotional press conference, Wong Lee Ping, described the harrowing ordeal that the teenager went through, and also expressed disappointment over rumours spread on social media.

“My daughter was stabbed 200 times,” said Wong, as she spoke through tears, addressing false reports that circulated online claiming her daughter, Yap Shing Xuen, had been stabbed 50 times.

Wong, 44, clarified that the wounds covered her daughter’s entire body, from her neck to her lungs, as well as her legs. “Some websites said my daughter was stabbed 50 times, but the truth is she was stabbed 200 times,” she said.

The mother described how the attack occurred in the school washroom. “Police told us the boy jumped down from the top of the cubicle because the door was locked. My daughter screamed for help, and people heard her,” Wong explained. “After stabbing her, the boy ran off, leaving my daughter locked inside. When the teachers broke open the door, she was already gone.”

She urged the public to cease spreading false and insensitive information about the case. “My daughter is already a victim. Please stop circulating fake stories about how she died. She did not know the boy, had never spoken to him, and was not in any relationship with him,” Wong said.

Wong, who described Shing Xuen as a bright and loving student, shared that her daughter had recently won second place at the ISKL sports event just two days before the tragedy.

Wong also took the opportunity to warn against online scams exploiting the situation. “Some people are using fake QR codes to solicit donations. Please be careful,” she said, highlighting the family’s distress over fraudulent claims, including one that falsely linked her brother, Wong Yoon Lim, to the suspect. “Some websites said he was the suspect’s father. That’s not true, and he has lodged a police report,” she added.

Her husband, How Boon Chin, was also present at the press conference.

Yap, a Form Three student, was fatally attacked by a 14-year-old male schoolmate at around 9.30am on October 14. The suspect has been arrested and remanded for seven days to assist in investigations.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and her deputy Wong Kah Woh visited Nirvana Center KL to offer their condolences to the family.

The wake will be held at Nirvana Center KL (NCKL), Level 3, Imperial Memorial Hall, starting today for five days, allowing relatives, friends, and schoolmates to pay their respects. – October 16, 2025

KUALA LUMPUR – The High Court in Shah Alam has sided with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in its defamation case against Australian political commentator Murray Hunter.

The court found that Hunter was responsible for publishing a series of defamatory and false statements about MCMC between April and November of the previous year.

In a statement issued today, MCMC noted that the publications contained serious and unfounded allegations, which misled the public and harmed the commission’s reputation.

“The publications carried serious and unfounded allegations which misled the public and damaged the reputation of the Commission,” MCMC stated.

The ruling, delivered on October 15, underlined that while freedom of expression is a fundamental right, it must be exercised responsibly and in accordance with the law.

“The right to free speech does not extend to making false, malicious, or defamatory statements that harm the reputation of others,” it added.

MCMC clarified that its decision to pursue legal action was aimed at safeguarding its institutional integrity and reinforcing accountability within the digital landscape.

This ruling follows Hunter’s ongoing legal challenges in Thailand, where he was arrested in Bangkok last month for allegedly ignoring multiple summonses from Thai authorities. He has since been granted bail and is due to appear in court again on November 17. — October 16, 2025

DAP Youth chief: Bersatu should be renamed ‘Berpecah’

OPINION | DAP Youth chief: Bersatu should be renamed ‘Berpecah’

Bersatu might be having an internal crisis that threatens the very foundation of its existence — but that is not necessarily bad news for everyone.

For Bersatu’s rivals, it is an occasion for laughter and celebration. DAP Youth chief Woo Kah Leong, for instance, could not resist taking a jab at the party after news broke that Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan had been expelled. With cutting humour, Woo suggested that Bersatu, which literally means “United,” should now be renamed “Berpecah” — meaning “Divided.”

Woo went further, questioning whether a party so riddled with internal discord could be trusted to lead the country. “Amid the grapple within PN to become its prime ministerial candidate, Bersatu has now become Berpecah. Can such a party be entrusted with leading the country?” he asked pointedly.

He also threw in a word of advice — or perhaps a warning — to MCA and MIC, both of which are said to be exploring the idea of joining Perikatan Nasional (PN). Woo quipped that they should “pull the handbrake” on any such plans, and remain in the current government coalition for the sake of their “positions and ranks.”

Woo’s comments came after Bersatu expelled Wan Saiful and four division chiefs for violating the party’s constitution and code of conduct. Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, meanwhile, was suspended until after the next Bersatu election in 2027.

The disciplinary action is believed to be linked to a “statutory declaration movement” allegedly aimed at toppling Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, as well as a recent commotion during an official party event.

Bersatu;s crisis appear self-inflicted — driven not by outside enemies, but by internal distrust and ego clashes.

Just days before his expulsion, Wan Saiful had launched a scathing attack on Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali, questioning his moral fitness to lead the party while an old scandal involving a leaked explicit video remains unresolved. He further accused Azmin of intimidating division leaders suspected of plotting against Muhyiddin.

The fallout was immediate. Many within the party called for Wan Saiful’s sacking. But instead of backing down, Wan Saiful doubled down. Speaking after his disciplinary hearing, he threatened to expose party leaders who, according to him, had been secretly liaising with political rivals and even receiving “millions” from them.

“We know who received millions from them. But we haven’t exposed them so far. So don’t push too hard,” he warned, according to Malaysiakini.

He also claimed he had been approached with offers to defect, but refused out of “love for Bersatu,” saying he had submitted evidence — including video and audio recordings, photographs, and phone numbers — to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee.

“If I were to accept any offer from that individual, I would have done that last year,” he said.

Meanwhile, Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal, who was suspended, questioned the integrity of the party’s disciplinary board, pointing out that its chairman, Radzi Abdul Manan, is the father-in-law of vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu and the father of another Supreme Council member.

“I’m not running away,” he said. “I’m only asking for the proceedings to be postponed so that the disciplinary board can be reorganised. I’m prepared to defend myself, but it should be before a panel that is not biased.”

If these accounts are true, Bersatu’s internal rot runs deeper than just factional politics. It reveals a party struggling not only with loyalty and discipline, but also with fairness and integrity — the very principles it once claimed to embody when it broke away from UMNO.

Adding salt to the wound, Penang PKR Youth chief Zakwan Mustafa Kamal urged Wan Saiful to resign as Tasek Gelugor MP, arguing that anyone sacked for disciplinary or credibility issues no longer deserved to serve as a Member of Parliament. Zakwan also reminded the public that Wan Saiful is still facing corruption and money laundering charges linked to the Jana Wibawa project.

“The people of Tasek Gelugor deserve an MP who is clean, has integrity, and is focussed on championing the people’s interests. The most honourable thing Wan Saiful can do is to vacate his seat and make way for a by-election,” Zakwan said.

Didn't one of the “most treasonous crime” commited in the country - where up to 100,000 blue identity cards and 200,000 birth certificates were “illegally” issued to foreigners (immigrants) - happen under the watch of a famous “ex-prime minister?”

Never one to remain silent each time a new controversy hits the country, two-time ex-premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has alleged that somebody “'powerful operating above the law" may be behind the alleged fabrication of documents for foreign players in the latest sporting scandal to shake the soccer-mad nation.

Not mentioning names, he went on to warn: if we want to win elections… or football games, let it be done properly. – don't cheat; the still “mentally sharp” ex-UMNO president was expressing his displeasure at the embarrassing saga where seven foreign football players were allegedly “naturalised” under questionable circumstances to enable them to represent the national team, fondly known as “Harimau Malaya.”

Meanwhile, one of the prime movers of football in the country Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim aka TMJ has begged to differ; in fact, he seemed to have directed his fury at FIFA instead, demanding why the latter had fined FAM now after clearing them earlier; the powerful, popular Johor prince also went on to urge Malaysians not to be afraid and bow to those who may be worried about the resurgence of the national football team.

Ironically, to some, this latest scandal involving the dubious naturalization of foreign footballers, would have evoked painful memories of the infamous “Project IC” in Sabah -- a major covert naturalisation programme undertaken during Dr Mahathir's first tenure as prime minister; this clandestine project was found to have illegally granted citizenship en masse to large numbers of migrants from neighbouring countries!

(Note: The report had stated that current PM Anwar Ibrahim was never officially implicated in the scandal)

Credit image: Sabahkini2.com dated 5 July 2022.

In fact, in 2022, the ex-chief minister of Sabah Joseph Pairin Kitingan had reportedly alleged that Dr Mahathir was the “mastermind” behind the shameful scandal in the state.

Pairin had further stressed that a Royal Commission of Enquiry (RCI) held in 2014 had proven beyond doubt that it was part of a “political strategy” implemented under Dr Mahathir's watch; and according to him, the objective then was to bring down the PBS-led state government which was perceived to be a Christian party.

Wasn't that a clear case of cheating to win an election?

Interestingly, earlier in 2018, Donald Mojuntin, the chief of Upko (once a prominent political party in Sabah) had also admitted that it was an “open secret” that the scandalous “Project IC” plot was hatched by Dr Mahathir's administration in the mid-1980s; he had further alluded to the fact that it was a (strategic) ploy to topple the PBS government by altering the demography of Sabah.

Mojuntin added that only a handful of leaders knew about this (dirty) ploy and that it remained a “hush hush” operation until all the evidence was eventually exposed in a (damning) RCI.

Didn't the “mega fraud” (also known as "Project M") change the face - and the future - of Sabah forever?

For the record, among the powerful political figures implicated in the scandal was former Sabah chief minister Osu Sukam and former deputy home minister Megat Junid Megat Ayub; shockingly, a prime witness in the RCI had also conceded that one of the objectives was to make the state “more favourable to Islam!”

Strangely though, the terms of reference of the said RCI set up by the then-PM Najib Razak did not call for investigating and naming the real masterminds who gave the orders to execute the treasonous plan! (Shades of the brutal Altantuya case where the real “architects" of the murder and the “intent” for the killing was allegedly never established in court?)

In conclusion, the very nature of the latest scandal involving the naturalization of foreign footballers is definitely not something new to the country; in fact, what many concerned citizens may be asking is: isn't it reflective of a systemic culture of hypocrisy that seems to be deeply entrenched in this country?

Moreover, isn't it the norm here, especially, when it involves “crimes” perpetrated by those in power, where once the “dirt” hits the fan, the blame is conveniently shifted to lower ranking officers, where after a little bit of drama, the file is eventually closed?

Siti Kasim dumbfounded at almost-zero rape cases among skirt, short pant-clad Chinese, Tamil schoolgirls

Siti Kasim dumbfounded at almost-zero rape cases among skirt, short pant-clad Chinese, Tamil schoolgirls

HOT on the heels of four male Form Five pupils being arrested on suspicion of raping a female Form Three pupil in a classroom at their national school in Melaka, Siti Kasim has urged the Education Ministry to study why “there are rarely or no cases of rape, sodomy, obscenity, bullying and death reported in Chinese and Tamil schools”.

Editor’s Note: The recent gruesome murder of a Form Four schoolgirl by her male schoolmate who is two years her junior happened in a national school, i.e., SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 4 although both the suspect and victim are of the same race.

Based on the suspect’s two final notes, the incident has little to zero se*ual motive as it is likely triggered by the suspect’s inability to distinguish reality from fantasy after having been overly engrossed with dark-themed popular Japanese anime Death Note.

“This is so even though Chinese children wear skirts, shorts and are involved in various sports and co-curricular activities,” the lawyer and human rights activist penned in a Facebook post in reaction to the OutSyed The Box blog by political observer Syed Akbar Ali who harped on the subject of se*ual-related crimes in national schools.

“They don’t even wear long dress uniform yet we’ve never heard or very rarely hear of rape, sodomy, obscenity, bullying or beaten to death cases in Chinese and Tamil schools.”

Siti Kasim
on Wednesday

"Cuba study kenapa jarang atau tidak berlaku kes rogol, liwat, cabul, buli, kematian di sekolah Cina dan sekolah Tamil. Padahal anak-anak Cina pakai skirt, seluar pendek dan terlibat pelbagai aktiviti sukan dan ko-kurikulum. Mereka tidak pakai baju kain ela pun. Tak pernah kita dengar atau paling jarang sekali kita dengar kes rogol, liwat, cabul, buli, dipukul mati di sekolah Cina dan Tamil.

Agama mereka pula digelar 'kapir'. Tetapi anak mereka lebih selamat. Dan mereka tidak ada pun pengajian agama mereka selama berjam-jam seminggu. Tidak ada pun pengajian agama Buddha atau agama Hindu di SRJK Cina dan Tamil."

 — with Siti Kasim.

Echoing Syed Akbar, Siti Kasim further snubbed the MOE: “Muslims regard them as kafir (infidel) because of their faiths. But their children are safer. This is despite the kids not getting the privilege of religious studies for numerous hours a week.

“There is no Buddhism or Hinduism classes in Chinese and Tamil SRJKs (vernacular primary schools).”

Editor’s Note: As this article develops, a report has come in that the cops have arrested a further four teenagers – three pupils and a former pupil of the same school in Baling, Kedah – for allegedly gang-raping a girl and sharing nude recordings of the victim online.

Acting Baling District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Salimi Mat Ali said the victim’s father lodged a police report on Sunday (Oct 12) after being informed by a disciplinary teacher about a nude video of his daughter circulating online.

Earlier, Siti Kasim has chided Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for having linked the recent rape case in the Alor Gajah, Melaka school to over-emphasis on paper chase versus instilling moral and ethical values.

“What’ve the pupils been learning from religious classes in view of more hours allotted for Islamic-related lessons (then other subjects) … how come the situation has deteriorated?” she ranted in a YouTube video.

“Moreover, rape cases in Malaysia show that Malays are the No. 1 perpetrator followed by Indians and Chinese with Malays accounting for approximately 65%-80% of incidents reported in available studies and official statements.

“There were 1,914 rape cases officially reported and recorded in Malaysia in 2023 compared to 1,712 cases in 2022.

“Media coverage and parliamentary discussions for 2024 show that Muslim-majority states, particularly Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah account for the highest number of underage rape cases, indicating that the majority of cases nationwide continue to involve Malays.” – Oct 16, 2025

The Man Who Killed Kennedy

The Case Against LBJ

The Man Who Killed Kennedy: The Case Against LBJ Paperback – 10 November 2014

"We appreciate Roger Stone, he is one tough cookie." - President Trump
The sensational New York Times bestseller, now in paperback.
Find out how and why LBJ had JFK assassinated.
The Man Who Killed Kennedy: The Case Against LBJ hit the New York Times bestseller list the week of the 50th Anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Consummate political insider Roger Stone makes a compelling case that Lyndon Baines Johnson had the motive, means, and opportunity to orchestrate the murder of JFK. Stone maps out the case that LBJ blackmailed his way on the ticket in 1960 and was being dumped in 1964 to face prosecution for corruption at the hands of his nemesis attorney Robert Kennedy. Stone uses fingerprint evidence and testimony to prove JFK was shot by a long-time LBJ hit man-not Lee Harvey Oswald.
President Johnson would use power from his personal connections in Texas, from the criminal underworld, and from the United States government to escape an untimely end in politics and to seize even greater power. President Johnson, the thirty-sixth president of the United States, was the driving force behind a conspiracy to murder President Kennedy on November 22, 1963.
In
The Man Who Killed Kennedy, you will find out how and why he did it.
Legendary political operative and strategist Roger Stone has gathered documents and uses his firsthand knowledge to construct the ultimate tome to prove that LBJ was not only involved in JFK's assassination, but was in fact the mastermind.
