Israel closely coordinated Gaza families’ mystery transit to S Africa

• Displaced Palestinians are reeling after heavy rains flooded their tents in makeshift displacement camps in Gaza City, as the United Nations warns that Israeli restrictions on aid have left hundreds of thousands of families without adequate shelter.
• The United States has called on the UN Security Council to officially back its draft resolution aimed at bolstering President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, warning that Palestinians could suffer “grave consequences” if it does not.

  Israeli forces have arrested 15 Palestinians during predawn military raids earlier today in the occupied West Bank, according to the Wafa news agency.

  This is where the arrests took place:

  • In Nablus, seven Palestinians were arrested.
  • In Qalqilya, Mahmoud Abu Labdeh and his brother Ahmad, Tariq Shabita, Sameh Abu Ali, Muhammad Abu Halima, and Saeed Abu Salma were arrested from the Kafr Saba neighbourhood.
  • In Ramallah and el-Bireh, former detainee Nadeem Barghouti was arrested from Beit Rima and Khalil Nabil from Abu Shkheidem.

  UN figures show deteriorating situation in occupied West Bank

  Every week, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) gives an update on the humanitarian situation in the occupied West Bank. Here are a few key facts from its latest report:

  • This year, more than 1,500 Palestinians have been displaced by demolitions due to the lack of permits, which are almost impossible to obtain, including about 1,000 people in Area C and 500 in occupied East Jerusalem.
  • Satellite imagery shows that about 1,460 structures have been destroyed or damaged in Jenin, Nur Shams and Tulkarem refugee camps.
  • Since October 1, OCHA has documented 167 settler attacks related to this year’s olive harvest season, affecting 87 Palestinian communities.
  • Between November 4 and 10, Israeli forces killed four Palestinians, including three children, in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
  • Since January, 45 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli forces – about 23 percent of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank so far this year.
  • Since January, Israeli forces’ operations in refugee camps in the northern West Bank – Jenin, Nur Shams and Tulkarem – have generated the longest and largest displacement crisis in the territory since 1967. As of September, UNRWA figures indicate that at least 31,919 Palestinian refugees have been displaced from the three refugee camps and surrounding areas.

  How many times has Israel violated the Gaza ceasefire?

  One month into the declaration of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Israel has violated the agreement with near-daily attacks, killing hundreds of people.

  Israel violated the ceasefire agreement at least 282 times from October 10 to November 10, through the continuation of attacks by air, artillery and direct shootings, the Government Media Office in Gaza reports.

  The office said Israel shot at civilians 88 times, raided residential areas beyond the “yellow line” 12 times, bombed Gaza 124 times, and demolished people’s properties on 52 occasions. It added that Israel also arrested 23 Palestinians from Gaza over the past month.

  Israel has also continued to block vital humanitarian aid and destroy homes and infrastructure across the Strip.
