The ex-health minister says decentralisation, value-based care and structural reforms are key to future-proofing Malaysia’s healthcare system

Khairy Jamaluddin said Malaysia’s public healthcare model, where the health ministry acts simultaneously as provider, regulator, and paymaster, is no longer fit for its purpose.
PETALING JAYA: Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin has called for the establishment of an independent health audit and pricing authority as part of reforming Malaysia’s healthcare system.
Khairy said Malaysia’s healthcare system lacked transparency and long-term direction.
He said the authority should be similar to the UK’s Care Quality Commission, and that it must be independent of the health ministry and tasked with auditing hospital service delivery, pricing, and regulatory enforcement.
“Without an independent health audit body and pricing authority, we wouldn’t know the actual cost of care, what the price benchmarks are, how service quality is measured, and how hospitals are performing.
“This is a structural issue that requires time to fix, and it’s not a small reform either. Forming an independent health audit body is part of a wider transformation to reform Malaysia’s health system,” he said at a healthcare conference here today.
Khairy said Malaysia’s current public healthcare model, where the health ministry acted simultaneously as provider, regulator, and paymaster, was no longer fit for its purpose.
He maintained that the health ministry must still exist but its roles should be decentralised.
“Oversight should be separated from service delivery, which should be handled by district health offices and public health clusters,” he said. “That’s the only way to ensure transparency and agility.”
The former Umno leader said Malaysia’s healthcare system remained too focused on high-volume, episodic treatment, with public hospitals primarily “rewarded” based on the number of procedures they performed, not on the outcome of their patients.
“Many of our problems come from this volume-based model, which is outdated. Hospitals get more funding because they do more surgeries or scans, not because they keep people healthier,” he said.
Khairy acknowledged that implementing preventive care and value-based healthcare in Malaysia would not be easy, due to engrained public attitudes.
“Malaysian society expects healthcare to cure them when they’re already sick. When we try to tell them to live healthier, they tell us to not inform them how to live their lives.
“However, when they fall sick and it starts to get worse, they want us to cure them, but that’s the most expensive time to intervene,” he said.
To overcome this, he said, reforms must include public education about what “value” in healthcare really meant, and was not merely about getting free treatment when unwell.
“It’s about faster access, better follow-up care, shorter waiting times, and doctors who actually know your history,” he said.
He added that many frontline healthcare workers already knew what needed to change but were stuck in a system that rewarded volume over value.

Doctors’ groups sue Kennedy over Covid shot changes for kids, pregnant people
They say the decision “erodes trust” by pitting providers against federal recommendations that aren’t grounded in evidence.

A coalition of doctors’ groups led by the American Academy of Pediatrics filed a lawsuit Monday against Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., arguing that his May announcement that the government would no longer recommend Covid-19 vaccines for healthy pregnant people and children violated longstanding norms governing U.S. immunization policy.

Delete🚨RFK Jr. is about to unravel a pillar of the medical industrial complex.
Two months ago, he warned corrupt scientific journals that he was fed up with their propaganda and censorship.
And NIH chief Dr. Jay Bhattacharya just followed through on RFK’s warning:

In May, RFK Jr. dropped a bombshell podcast exposing the corruption of scientific journals.
“The NIH has $46 billion that it allocates to scientists every year.”
“That system has been corrupted.”
Kennedy said NIH-funded researchers will never publish “results that may diminish corporate profits.”
“People who get the money tend to be people who have been approved by the industry … they are part of an old boys network that knows what they can and can’t say, and what they can research and what they can.”

RFK Jr. declared that HHS planned to “stop publishing in the Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA and those other journals—because they’re all corrupt.”
The editors-in-chief of two leading scientific journals even admitted that their journals are nothing more than propaganda.
“Even Marcia Angell, who for 20 years was head of the New England Journal of Medicine, said that we no longer are a science journal, we are a vessel for pharmaceutical propaganda.”
“Richard Horton, who was head of the Lancet … said the same thing.”
“He said, we are no longer science journals. We are about promoting pharmaceutical products.”
“And if you want to publish in a journal, you have to pay $10,000 to get the study published.”
“So the pharmaceutical company concocts a study that shows the outcome that they want … and then they’ll publish that.”
Kennedy pledged that HHS and NIH would “create our own journals” if the corruption isn’t cleaned up.

Dr. Bhattacharya exposed that the scientific publishing industry is dominated by a handful of elite journals—and called out Springer Nature and Elsevier.
“It’s not a competitive industry.”
“A few other smaller publishers, including like university presses, have a contract that says, we would like to have access for our scientists to the stuff that’s in your journals. That makes sense.”
“What doesn’t make sense is charging scientists for publishing in the journal exorbitant amounts of money, just for the right for the public to see the papers without a paywall.”
Springer Nature and Elsevier “basically set the terms for a lot of the scientific journals.”
“One of the reasons why it was so difficult to get the word out about what scientists were saying during Covid was because they had such monopoly power over scientific publishing.”

In 2024, Springer Nature and Elsevier made billions in revenue.
...
Then, Dr. Bhattacharya revealed that the corruption of scientific journals was a key part of the censorship regime during Covid-19.
“A lot of the problem during the pandemic was this sense that there is something called The Science.”
“A relatively small number of ‘clergy’ in The Science … get to decide what’s true and false.”
“If you open up access to the journals so that the public at-large can see what scientific debates are actually happening, it makes it much more difficult for … a small number of scientific elite to determine what’s true and false.”

In one sense, it is called carma, American version. In another sense, he has to pay his due...it depends on whether there are more numbers of people that are willing to see or not to see, to follow the pied piper or not...but then again, many are still sleeping. But chances are, more people are starting to ask question on subjects that were manipulated for the past 150 years...will find out soon enough if RFK, that has the authority of the pen, is more powerful, or the science guy is.

#9 - Bill Nye “The Science Guy” says RFK Jr.’s claims about vaccines and autism have been “DEBUNKED up and down.”
Nye made these remarks after BLOCKING Kennedy, who was sending him “page after page” of material claiming vaccines cause autism.
“He was relentless.”
“I just told him he’s confused causation with correlation,” Nye said.
“Just because somebody got a vaccination and then somebody else got autism doesn’t mean one caused the other. This is science.”
p/s KJ has his share of blood. There are lament he will get off his this lifetime. A doctor suggested people to take responsibility of their health, fast, before situation get worse for them, instead of waiting for justice...do not lament when MY economy goes down because of lack of people, kj himself had push for more cancer treatment after the whole shot had taken place. Anyway, IHHH is expanding regionally on private healthcase business, while SG is using money to lure MY doctors. Health is gold business.

DeleteThe Amish don’t generally vaccinate their Children & their Children rarely ever are Autistic.
Now it’s revealed the Hepatitis B Vaccine increases chances of Autism by 1135% & The CDC tried to bury the study.
The Health Minister hand was shaking as he flipped the pages of his speech. Why?
