Summary
- Rafizi Ramli vows not to throw in the towel and to continue the struggle for a better Malaysia.
- He says it is this idealism that ignited his journey into activism and politics.
Despite his defeat in the PKR deputy presidential race, Rafizi Ramli remains resolute, vowing to press on in his fight for a better Malaysia.
“I have no intention of giving up or abandoning the ideals we have long held - that Malaysia deserves something better,” he said in a social media post.
Rafizi said it was this very idealism that first ignited his journey into activism and politics.
“Every problem has many solutions. Every obstacle has various shortcuts,” he added.
Rafizi, who is expected to step down as economy minister, said that with more time on his hands, he looks forward to reconnecting with ordinary Malaysians.
‘Allah knows best’
The Pandan MP, who has been with PKR for nearly three decades, also expressed gratitude to his supporters.
“Thank you also to those who prayed for me and performed solat hajat.
“I was deeply touched when several young party members shed tears as I left the hall, pleading with me not to leave PKR despite being treated in such a way.

“To those who are disappointed, we must accept with faith the decisions and wisdom behind them. Allah knows best what is good for us,” he added.
Rafizi’s social media post also featured a video montage of his campaign trail during the previous general election, including clips of him with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and snippets of him clocking in for the first time as economy minister.
The video was set to a backdrop of American rapper Kendrick Lamar's song “Friends”, with the visuals playing out over a verse in the song, expressing the pain of betrayal and exploitation by close ones while reflecting on broken trust and emotional exhaustion.
Rafizi was the incumbent number two to PKR president Anwar, but he lost to Anwar’s daughter Nurul Izzah in the recent party election.
Yesterday, the politician emphasised that government positions are not essential for driving reform, stressing that lasting change must originate from society itself.
He believed that PKR’s goals remain unfinished, adding that the party’s ideals are likely to endure beyond its president.
