Israeli Soldiers Accused of Destroying Cross on Mount Hermon

Just days before Christmas, a decades-old Christian cross atop Mount Hermon in Syria was destroyed, allegedly by Israeli soldiers.
This occurred after Israel took control of the strategically important mountain following the removal of Bashar al-Assad from power.
The mountain serves as a key observation point between Syria and Lebanon and is a significant source of water.
The soldiers reportedly explained their actions by saying, The soldiers’ explanation on why they destroyed it: “We really didn't like it and were worried that from now on, no one would have a reason to see a cross there."
So the Cross stands up like a bright beacon in long range optical sights, making it a target marker for artillery or missile systems.
ReplyDeleteIt was a straightforward military decision to destroy it.
When the PLA advances to Beijing & the occupation was imminent. The commander-in-chief demanded NO damages done to ANY historical relics & people. Thus Beijing wasn't destroyed under the rubbles.
DeleteBright beacon military targets?
How about the saving of historical remnants for the future?
When the Yank demanded to bomb Nanjing - another historical site - to target some small ragtagging advancing Jap, the Chiang complied fully & saying it was a necessity for the yank bombers to have a practicing run! Thus, Nanjing had a nasty fate predetermined by a Yankee myrmidon commander!
Straightforward military decision?
How about wanton & straghtjacketed military operation of zilch humanistic consideration?
