Siti Kasim: Call to unite 3 big Malay parties equals a blatant attempt to brainwash Malays
DEFENDING Islam and uniting them are the best political tool to use in order to control “gullible” Malays in Malaysia.
Such is the reaction of human rights activist and lawyer Siti Kasim to the call by Bersatu supreme council member Datuk Seri Redzuan Yusof for the three major Malay political parties – UMNO, PAS and Bersatu – to merge.
“No need to talk about how to be a productive human being in this world. No need to talk about how to improve our economy for everyone,” she fumed in a post on the X platform in a response to former diplomat Dennis Ignatius who had earlier commented on the matter (see below).

“No need to talk about
“No need to talk about best education for our children. No need to talk about having a civic minded way of living. No need to talk about whole lot of more important things in this life. Just talk about religion and race.”
Added the Orang Asli advocate: “That’s the easiest (way) to sell to brainwashed minds.”
In his social media post, Ignatius had also chided Redzuan who was the former minister in the prime minister’s department (special functions) during the Parikatan Nasional (PN) administration as he did not view as feasible the proposed merger of UMNO, PAS and Bersatu in the quest to strengthen the political standing of the Malays.
“First, he brought us flying cars. Now he wants to unite all Malay parties! When elephants fly,” teased the former Malaysian high commissioner to Canada.
Editor’s Note: Recall that in July 2019, Redzuan in his capacity as the entrepreneur development minister claimed that Malaysia might see flying cars in its skyline as early as October that year as he expected the completion of a private project to develop the prototype by then.
He further stated that Malaysia stood by its view on its flying car project even though it has been criticised by various parties, including the United Nations (UN) special rapporteur Prof Phillip Alston.
Alston had deemed a flying car as not practical in Malaysia on grounds that there are frequent storms here and that would consume too much fossil fuel.

“That is the best way to strengthen Malay leadership. The coalition formula is clear but there should not be any abuse of power,” Utusan Malaysia quoted the former Alor Gajah MP as saying yesterday (Nov 1).

“After 67 years of independence, the Malays have been leading the nation but what has been the position of the Malays all this while?”
In June, former UMNO warlord Datuk Seri Annuar Musa had mooted a similar idea by stating that Malay unity can only be fostered if UMNO, PAS and Bersatu unite.
The last time the three parties were united was when they formed the government in March 2020 following the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration. – Nov 2, 2024
