PETALING JAYA
An aide to housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming has denied that Nga took part in an event in Teluk Intan, Perak, where the Chinese flag was waved during a procession.

Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria had earlier alleged that Nga, a DAP vice-chairman, officiated at a lantern festival on Sept 13, in which people were seen waving the Chinese flag while walking past Teluk Intan’s Leaning Tower in a viral video.

Razman said Section 3 of the National Emblems (Display Control) Act 1949 prohibits the display of foreign flags in public places or schools and called for an investigation into the matter.

However, Nga’s aide told FMT the Teluk Intan MP did not attend the event.

“The video is also not about a lantern festival event as claimed,” she said.

She said it was actually of participants at the International Guan Gong Cultural Festival yesterday, in which representatives from several countries, including China, took part.

In a statement, Guan Gong Cultural Association chairman Soon Boon Hua apologised for the incident and said the Chinese flags were waved by a delegation from China.

“This was never part of the programme,” he said.

“As the organiser, I apologise for the incident and will look into how we can improve this programme.

  1. They should have thrown some Palestinian flags into the mix to satisfy the RRR politicians.

  2. It is unclear whether they were a China delegation or Chinese Malaysians flying the CCP flag.

If some of them were the latter, they could be in hot soup.
