Lim should stop stoking fire - in other words, time for KHAT to STFU

Lim should stop stoking fire

YOURSAY | ‘Encourage goodwill and friendship on both sides.’

Najib will not rejuvenate Umno - Kit Siang

Mazilamani: I, along with many others, have respect for DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, but he should avoid making comments about Umno.

He should understand that Umno and PKR are doing their best to draw Malay votes, and Lim, with critical and carefree remarks like these, is distancing the Malays from the unity government.

Lim is doing a big disservice to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. It is remarks like these that are also making others distrust DAP leaders.

Lim knows that the state elections are just around the corner, and he should be more cautious with his words without offending others.

apanama is back: "DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang does not believe that former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak would be able to rejuvenate Umno after the party’s defeat in the last two elections."

Kit Siang, you are the one who "does not believe."

However, Umno believes that Najib will be able to rejuvenate Umno back to its heyday. Believing something is subjective, so it is better not to argue. I told you that you had better stop harping on this issue about getting a pardon for Najib.

Now, the ball is in the Pardons Board's and Yang di Pertuan Agong's court. Have confidence in our Agong’s wisdom.

Mark my words. The petition will be dismissed. Game over for Najib and Umno! One cannot argue with this Umno supreme council member, Puad Zarkashi.

Man on the Silver Mountain: Bottom line with this comment, Lim is poking his nose into the internal affairs of Umno.

While it was a fair game before, now Umno is in the unity government. They are colleagues and allies.

Lim should know that he is a voice of the DAP and being an elder statesperson there - his opinion speaks for DAP, at least seen among Umno and its supporters. This is needless.

They should encourage goodwill and friendship on both sides, not comments that can upset others. Yesterday, it was Puad. Why do they have to behave like that?

Jurgen: These exchanges between Lim and Puad are a foreshadowing of things to come. Lim must stop his rhetoric on principles.

Principles in themselves are fluid over time. We live in a world today in which social constructs cause much factionalism. The word unity cannot have many connotations.

Falcon: Here we go again! Why are you messing with another party's issues and internal politics?

Why give unnecessary ammunition to hammer both DAP and the current unity government, both currently already having their issues with vulgar appointments, court cases, corruption, an alleged sex scandal and MACC investigations?

FellowMalaysian: If Najib ever gets pardoned, Harapan will self-destruct and implode because Harapan's supporters will see that their sailing ship has run aground.

Lim is no magician but after 60 years of helming DAP, he has a pretty good grasp of how the unity government is heading should Anwar play to the tune of Umno's leaders.

YellowCat1156: I beg to differ. Honestly speaking, what has Harapan done to endear itself to the Malays?

Many are distancing themselves from anything remotely associated with PAS.

Umno will not change as it has refused to do so. The release of Najib will strengthen that. Like it or not, they are right now the co-driver shouting instructions on where to go.

GrayViper3165: Please don’t antagonise the Malays and get involved in Malay politics. Look at your party's internal squabbles first and prevent your DAP ministers from getting infected by the corruption virus.

The recent reports on the Human Resources Ministry are a wake-up call.

Iammi: Lim, enough la! The same goes for any DAP leader. No need to ignite the fire and restart the feud. Let the prime minister and other current leaders handle this.

After all, to many of us, if Anwar let this happen, it would be the end of our support for him and PKR.

Sealthedeal: If by some wild miscarriage of justice, the national embarrassment gets a pardon, it will ruin the country and destroy the justice system.

Corruption will once again rule Malaysia.
