Three ministers may get the boot following controversies - I doubt it as 2 out of 3 from PRIBUMI Bersatu

Report: Three ministers may get the boot following controversies

IT is speculated that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob may drop three ministers from the Cabinet over various controversies.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, the leaders who may face the axe soon are Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Abd Latiff Ahmad; Women, Family and Community Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun and National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique.

Sources were quoted saying that Abd Latiff may face the sack due to his failure in handling the massive flood disaster which ravaged Selangor and Pahang recently. He is in charge of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

The public vented their frustration against Abd Latiff for weeks as many were left stranded for days on their rooftops without help during the floods.

Despite mounting anger, the minister refused to apologised and even said that neither his sacking nor dissolving NADMA would solve the people’s problems.

As for Rina, she has been subjected to public ridicule following the floods too; for wearing high heels to visit victims sheltered at temporary evacuation centres.

She also courted public mockery after releasing footage of her cleaning up an apparently already clean floor of a premise affected by the floods using a water jet.

Meeting with Abah soon

Halimah is expected to be removed due to her poor response towards the controversy plaguing the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA), where it was alleged that nearly RM100 mil of its funds had been misappropriated by several individuals and groups.

On Dec 7, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Tan Sri Azam Baki had said that several individuals will be hauled up to court this year in regards to the MITRA controversy.

On the possibility of the three ministers being dropped, Ismail Sabri is said to be having a meeting with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to discuss the matter.

While Abd Latiff and Rina are from Bersatu, Halimah is from UMNO. – Jan 4, 2022.
