KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Conference of Rulers have said today that there is no need for the ongoing State of Emergency to be extended past its original end date of August 1.

Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad said in a statement that this was one of seven recommendations which resulted from the special Conference of Rulers meeting at Istana Negara earlier today.

“Their Highnesses are united in the opinion that the lives and livelihoods of the rakyat must be prioritised above all others,” he said in a statement.

  1. There is still the imminent danger of the Sarawak State Elections.

Constitutionally, the Sarawak State Assembly stands automomatically dissolved , and the State Elections MUST be held within 60 days.
Only the current State of Emergency stands in the way, but after that, the State Elections must be held.

PETALING JAYA: The National Recovery Plan is designed to ensure that every decision made by the government will protect the lives and livelihoods of the people, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

“After more than a year fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, we will now move into the recovery phase.

“As per the special address made by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday, the National Recovery Plan will bring our country out of this health crisis in phases,” the Transport Minister said in a Facebook post Wednesday (June 16).

With this, Dr Wee noted that Muhyiddin has also given his commitment that Parliament can reopen in September or October following strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“Let us all remain strong and united in fighting Covid-19,” he said.
