Puad tells Education Minister: Stop Hiding lah!

Focus Malaysia:

Stop hiding and speak out, Puad tells Education Minister!

WITH COVID-19 infections rising in schools, coupled with period spot check allegations, an Umno leader lashed out at Education Minister Datuk Radzi Jidin for keeping mum about them.

“Radzi’s move to remain silent on many critical issues only gives the Perikatan Nasional Government a bad image,” said Umno supreme council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi in a Facebook post.

To date, there are 39 clusters, with 1,420 cases, detected since January involving schools and other education institutions under the Education Ministry’s (MOE) purview.

SMK Seremban 2 was ordered to be closed until April 29, after 17 staffers and students were tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, 179 students from Persekutuan Labu religious secondary school were quarantined after three students were tested positive for the coronavirus.

Yesterday, former Education Minister Maszlee Malik appealed to the MOE to get its act together as many students, particularly from the B40, are affected by the school closures.

When there is a problem, Radzi goes missing

Among the ideas he shared was for the Government to speed up the delivery of 150,000 laptops to B40 children and teachers’ own kids, where the locality is under movement control order (MCO) like Kelantan.

The Simpang Renggam MP added that the Government should also provide special incentives to teachers who purchase data and learning materials for their students to ease the home-based teaching and learning (PDPR) process.

Puad also echoed Maszlee’s sentiments on the matter, especially PDPR, adding it was disappointing that Radzi also chose to remain coy over the period spot checks allegations.

“Radzli likes to lay low whenever there is a controversy. He is neither pro-active nor has any plans to address any critical issues.

“Is he even qualified to hold a senior minister’s post?” the former Deputy Education Minister queried. – April 26, 2021.
