KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 — Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today lambasted the actions of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for not allowing the motion of no-confidence against the latter to be debated in the coming parliamentary sitting.

In a special May 9 address today in conjunction with the anniversary of Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) triumph at the 14th general election in 2018, Dr Mahathir said such moves by the ruling administration, including the one-day parliamentary sitting on May 18 and not allowing any motion to be brought forward, are eroding democracy in the country.

Dr Mahathir explained that this was pertinent as he claimed Muhyiddin no longer commanded the majority in the Dewan Rakyat, pointing to alleged statements by Umno as a party that it does not support PN.

Instead, Dr Mahathir pointed out that Umno’s individual lawmakers only voiced their support for Muhyiddin as the prime minister, with the real objective of bringing down the PH administration.

“If we want to say the Perikatan Nasional government, Perikatan Nasional actually does not exist. But if in the Dewan sitting, [Muhyiddin] does not have majority support, it means that he does not deserve to be prime minister.

“To prevent that, he does not allow us to convene and only conducts the sitting for one day only, we cannot bring forward any motion. So this is blocking the democratic process,” he said.

Dr Mahathir added it is the people’s mandate that dictates the elected representatives of their choice who then choose the prime minister.

“This is not democratic. If previously Najib’s administration is said to have been thieves and kleptocrats, then Muhyiddin’s government, by not allowing us the opportunity to debate in the Dewan, is not a democratic government but a partial dictatorship,” he said, referring to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“I hope the people understand what is happening,” he added.

In a letter dated May 4 that Malay Mail sighted, former prime minister Dr Mahathir notified Parliament of his intention to table a motion of no-confidence against his successor.

The motion had been complemented by Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal’s motion of confidence for Dr Mahathir, which Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof rejected after deeming it to be unconstitutional.

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry at Mahathir for accusing the PN government of being 'a partial dictatorship'. Mind, Mahathir is not entirely wrong but c'mon, he's really the LAST person credible in the democratic department to ever accuse anyone of being a dictator or a government led by someone (such as PN) of being a 'partial dictatorship'.

His shameless brazenness is staggering. A FB friend has just jibed, laughing at the audacity of Mahathir, a 'total absolute dictator' during his PM4 days, of having the temerity to criticise Muhyiddin of leading a 'partial dictatorship' - indeed, it has to take an absolute dictator to recognise a partial dictator. Just one teeny weeny example of the dictatorship of his first 'reign of terror' - didn't he unilaterally declare Malaysia as not an moderate Islamic state but an Islamic fundamentalist state?

Don't believe me? Check out what KHAT eSS raved, ranted and railed about in his article about Mahathir's "929 Declaration and 617 Announcement".

And if KHAT eSS denies that he wrote "929 Declaration and 617 Announcement", then he is a blatant liar.

And even more hilarious (and 'hilarious' here is not in the 'funny' sense) he could criticise Najib of being a government of thieves and kleptomaniacs. It's not he is wrong but he himself should first refer to Barry Wain's book for more on this issue, as well as some of KHAT eSS' former raves, rants & railings wakakaka.

KHAT eSS now struck dumb, deaf and blind

PODAH!

  1. KT's shameless hatred for Toonsie knows no bound but he is so kind, blind and forgiving to MCA and Gerakan.

Toonsie's 929 and 916 declarations were made when MCA and Gerakan were in power, not DAP. In fact the 929 declaration was made at the Gerakan 2001 General Assembly, to generous applause by their members.

And when Toonsie's 617 announced in 2002 that Malaysia is an Islamic Fundamentalist state, MCA and Gerakan were still solidly behind him.

Why didn't MCA and Gerakan leave the government then?

In fact MCA and Gerakan leaders were the first to give their full and unequivocal support that Malaysia had always been an Islamic state from day one of our nationhood.

For months after the 929 declaration, MCA and Gerakan leaders were trumpeting that Malaysia is a moderate Islamic state, including Gerakan President, Datuk Dr Lim Keng Yaik.

And if KT use his favourite argument that Then Is Then, Focus On The Now....

Today MCA are in cahoots with PAS........despite what they said about them in the past, but KT is silent about that. Only know how to hentam LKS, no matter where he goes ha ha ha....when in government kena hentam, when in opposition also kena hentam.

But when Wee KHAT Siong was in opposition no critique, now in government still no critique. Ayam waiting for KT to hound and pound Wee KHAT Siong on:

    1. TARUC matching grant
    2. UEC recognition
    3. KHAT KHAT KHAT
    4. BEER BEER BEER...

    Spineless Jellyfish....ha ha ha..
