Very stressful, hasn't it been in today's march against the ISA? Stressful for both the government and the protestors.
However, the organizers of the protest have assessed today's anti-ISA staged rallies as a success, and they are right. They have successfully captured the nation's and international attention that the Malaysian people are against the government's misuse of the ISA.
And the ar$eluck for the governmet is that this would be the general impression even if only 25% of the people supported the anti-ISA movement.

Worse, the attempted police suppression of the protesors has only martyr-ised each and every one of the participants ... exactly the outcome the Pakatan leaders would have wanted.
The government might have wished the protest rallies hadn't ocurred but alas, it did. In my opinion, the ministers (PM, Home and Information) handled the protests abysmally.

Visualize an alternative scenario - what if the government had allowed the peaceful protest to proceed unimpeded?
Yes, there would still be a protest march and ..... [consider an absence of the FRU with all its attention grabbing characteristics like chemical spraying machines, tear gas and praetorian guards and their baton charges] ..... then what???
The political effect would be very much, indeed significantly, reduced.
So why has the government chosen the option that could only aggravate and magnify the public dramas and political consequences of the anti-ISA rallies, unwittingly lending the Pakatan-led protestors far greater attention than would have been the case if there was no police/FRU interference.
Sometimes I wonder how stupid the relevant ministers had been to adopt such a counter-productive (for them) tactic - but more often that that, I wonder whether the Police had sinisterly, sinuously and successfully sold those dumbos the hardline approach ... obviously to enhance their own (police) importance and to suck the (so-called) political masters (or more likely, pundee morons) into total dependence on the men in blue.
And of course the IGP gets another highly undeserved extension to his contract.
SPOT ON ! WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO EXPECT FROM LEADERS WHO ARE HALF-PAST SIX HATCHETMEN AMONGST FORNICATORS AND CORRUPT HENCHMEN. DUDES, THESE IGPS, HOME MINISTERS, THEY ARE ARE DUMBOS MOTHER FUCKERS MAN. CHECK THEIR ACADEMIC RECORDS. THATS WHY ONE MALAY FUCKWITZ DIDNT EVEN HAVE THE QUALM TO CARRY A SMELLY KING SIZE BED WITH SPERM ON IT. LOOK AT HIM NOW....AN IGP MAN. IGP OF MALAYSIA !
ReplyDeleteKtemoc.. apa lu cakap? Baguslah protesters being martyr-ised. Lu tak suka kah? You want the protest to just... fizzle out, itu macam kah?
ReplyDeleteOr are you quietly supports Najib and UMNO?
bagus gas kan aje orang yg buat protest tu
ReplyDelete... and they even set up block at SUNGAI PETANI SELATAN Toll ...what morons oredered that !
ReplyDeleteKesian Ktemoc...
ReplyDeletedia memang harap ameno boleh perintah lama lagi...tapi adoi, hanya orang bangang saja yg dijumpainya dalam ameno...
keh...keh...keh...baik jugak kalau Ktemoc yg jadi adviser ameno, boleh lah lama diorang merom...ooops...merintah.
yang menurut perintah
keh...keh...keh...
My thoughts also. The anti-ISA groups could not have gained much points if they had been allowed to march by the stupid ministers.
ReplyDeleteNow they are hero's.
Mohd.
Kesian peniaga nak cari makan kat Jln TAR
ReplyDeleteLainkali cuba buat kat Bukit Bintang ke Pudu ke, nak tgk reaksi peniaga kat sana pulak
Lain kali buat la protes kat Stadium kan ke convenient utk semua org...rakyat biasa pun takkan naik menyampah
What if they have been left alone but something bad happen? There are a lot of opportunist around e.g now someone lost a RM19k camera by ragut or something worst. Who will the rakyat blame? The police or the demostractor?
ReplyDeleteIn this case I think the police is in a very difficult situation. Recent case example happens in China. When there is a big group of human gathering like this, anything is possible.
Nobody can be sure which action is correct.
Is this what 1Malaysia is all about? Suppression of its own citizens who wanted to voice their anti-ISA feelings peacefully?
ReplyDeleteYou prefer a nation of democrazy ?
ReplyDeleteBravo Malaysians.
ReplyDeleteYesterday Malaysians of all ethnic and religious backgrounds, both genders and all skin colours, walked together on a matter of national policy. This was simply beautiful.
I was there. I saw black-clad Malaysian Chinese who shared light moments with tudung-clad Malaysian Malay ladies, brave Unit Amal members giving salt (against tear gas) to Hindraf supporters. That's why BN is so enraged. Malaysians built history together yesterday, as they did in the Hartal and the PUTERA-AMCJA people's constitution days. Malaysians have a history together, though it has been hidden to them for decades. They just proved they will build a future together!
Hidup Malaysia!
1 Black Malaysia. Democracy First. Elections Now.
It was a huge turnout. I was there, too.

ReplyDeleteThis was what Anwar said about the ISA on 24 May 1994 when he was Deputy Prime Minister while officiating a "Mesyuarat Agung Antarabangsa ke 27, Majlis Ekonomi Lembangan Pasifik (PBEC)" in Kuala Lumpur, Anwar Ibrahim said:
“Walaupun keadaan dalam negara sekarang adalah baik, namun tidak dapat dinafikan kemungkinan berlakunya ketegangan. Dalam keadaan seperti itu kebijaksanaan untuk mempertahankan ISA adalah perlu demi keamanan negara. Adalah tidak wajar untuk menghapuskan Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA) yang terbukti berkesan membawa keamanan dan kemakmuran di negara ini.”
On 28th Oktober 1987, Anwar's statement when he was Education Minister on the arrest under ISA of both BN and Opposition members during Operation Lallang:
“The goverment’s decision to ban all public rallies showed that it placed national security above the aspirations of certain politicians and political parties…..The government’s actions were carefully planned and placed priority on national interest not that of any particular group. There can be no compromise on national security in a multiracial country like ours.”
Fast forward to 1st August 2009, this is what Anwar Ibrahim defacto Opposition Leader and wannabe PM said in the anti ISA demonstration:
“We gather today to fight a cruel law under a cruel administration..”
jgn jadi bodoh lah.. suka menyusahkan org... baik tunggu PRU 13.. pilih aje parti yang ko suka...
