'Rakyat not stupid': MP fumes over Home Ministry reply on flag gaffes

Published: Oct 16, 2026 11:54 AM

The Home Ministry’s response to a parliamentary question on Jalur Gemilang gaffes has drawn the ire of a DAP MP, who accused the ministry of providing “half-hearted answers”.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng sought the Home Ministry’s explanation over perceived double standards in handling cases involving wrongful displays of the national flag.

In particular, the lawmaker highlighted that while ordinary citizens were remanded and subjected to urine tests, no arrests were made against individuals from Perak MCA, the Kuala Terengganu City Council, and a Johor state exco member for the same offence.

“Were police influenced by the status of those involved?” he questioned.

In a written parliamentary response yesterday, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail detailed action taken by the police in all three cases Lim referred to.

For the incident involving an upside-down display of the Jalur Gemilang at the Perak MCA office on Aug 28, Saifuddin (below) said personnel from the Ipoh district police headquarters had recorded statements, during which a Perak MCA representative explained the situation.

Noting that the error was immediately rectified while the individual responsible expressed regret and resigned, Saifuddin said the Perak MCA chairperson also sought forgiveness from the Perak sultan and issued a public apology to all Malaysians.

Regarding the incident in Terengganu where the crescent and star were missing from a Jalur Gemilang, Saifuddin said the issue stemmed from “a technical error and weather factors, rather than an act of mischief or sabotage”.

The minister affirmed that while the Kuala Terengganu City Council took immediate action and launched an internal investigation, no police report had been filed against them.

Similarly, no police report was lodged on an incident in Johor involving a state exco member, where an AI-generated Jalur Gemilang graphic contained an 18-point star instead of the correct 14 points.

The minister also said the principle of equality before the law under Article 8 of the Federal Constitution applies in the investigation of all cases.

“Based on this principle, all individuals who commit an offence will be investigated regardless of their respective background or political status,” Saifuddin said.

He added that the police are committed to addressing issues that could cause public alarm, threaten national peace, and disrupt societal harmony.

'An insult and an embarrassment'

However, in a Facebook post today, Lim slammed the Home Ministry for supposedly dodging his question, saying: “Don’t think the rakyat are stupid!”

“Parliament is not a place for officers to play with words to run away from responsibilities!

“Such half-hearted answers are an insult to the rakyat, tarnish Parliament’s dignity, and embarrass the nation!” he added.

UM student claims threatened, harassed after Najib fundraiser criticism goes viral

UM student claims threatened, harassed after Najib fundraiser criticism goes viral

Published: Oct 16, 2026 8:53 PM

Universiti Malaya student Ummi Umairah Bakhit claimed she had faced online threats and harassment after videos of her criticising donations to former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak went viral.

The 23-year-old economics undergraduate told the New Straits Times that she stood by her statement and refused to be intimidated by those attacking her.

"After the video went viral, they took my photos from Instagram without my consent.

"Some of them also threatened me with expulsion from the university, harassed me, made comments about my physical appearance, and much more," she alleged.

Ummi added that Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim had contacted her to check on her well-being and assured her that she would not face disciplinary action from the university.

She said the university had not taken any action against her so far.

Earlier today, Adam defended Ummi's remarks, which centred on corruption and abuse of power.

Adam, who is also a former student activist, said her criticisms constituted "fair comment" and should not be seen as a threat, but "an important reminder to those entrusted with leadership".

Ummi had criticised what she perceived as rising corruption and described donations to a fundraiser to help Najib pay his RM50 million fine as “the stupidest thing I’ve seen in my entire life”.

She raised the issue during a Higher Education Ministry-backed dialogue on Monday featuring former minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, and Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Ummi asked the trio how future leaders should stand against corruption and feudalism.

A group of 13 DAP members, including its Selangor Youth deputy chief Nur Rahim Nasir, also backed Ummi, saying students must be allowed to criticise policies and question current affairs without fear of public backlash, threats, or intimidation.

Huckabee Aide Reportedly Blocked Embassy Reports Critical of Israel

Huckabee Aide Reportedly Blocked Embassy Reports Critical of Israel

David Milstein, a senior adviser to US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, allegedly blocked, altered or delayed embassy reports to shield the Israeli government from criticism in Washington, according to a New York Times investigation. The investigation, published Oct. 8, drew on interviews with 15 US officials and dozens of internal cables, memos and other communications.

The alleged interventions involved reporting on West Bank settlement expansion, settler violence and Gaza’s humanitarian conditions. In one instance, diplomats drafted a cable warning about deteriorating conditions after Israel halted aid deliveries. Milstein reportedly sent a separate cable presenting the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation more favorably. Officials who spoke to the newspaper expressed concern that Washington was receiving an incomplete picture.

Huckabee categorically rejected the allegations without addressing the specific incidents. The State Department said its team remained focused on advancing Trump’s agenda. The investigation did not establish how much Huckabee knew about Milstein’s interventions or whether they affected White House policy; officials said he sometimes supported the changes and sometimes restrained his aide.

GhostofBasedPatrickHenry: All I need to say about David Milstein is that he is Mark Levin’s stepson. This is a statement of fact.

US Proposes Unfreezing Russian Assets to Revive Ukraine Peace Talks

US Proposes Unfreezing Russian Assets to Revive Ukraine Peace Talks

The United States proposed releasing some frozen Russian sovereign assets as part of a Ukraine peace agreement, citing four unnamed people briefed on the discussions. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner raised the idea during talks in Miami, including potentially moving funds into a financial vehicle overseen by Washington. European delegates rejected relinquishing control. An unnamed US official told Financial Times that the mechanisms and spending arrangements remained under discussion.

Western countries froze roughly $300 billion in Russian sovereign assets following Russia’s 2022 invasion, with much held at Belgium-based Euroclear. European governments have used proceeds from the assets to support Ukraine, while proposals to seize the principal have faced legal concerns. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow had no information about the reported US initiative but would pursue recovery of its assets through legal action.

GhostofBasedPatrickHenry: Perhaps this is why the Diaspora is going after Jared Kushner? With a Soros-funded NGO?

Remember: Vladimir Putin expelled George Soros and the Open Societies Foundation from Russia in 2003. That move is essentially why Fox News and the GOP suddenly started calling Putin a dictator in 2006. (Reconcile…)

We always anticipated that Trump would lift the sanctions on Russia. This is happening incrementally, in stages. First he allowed Russia to sell others oil, then he allowed Russia to sell the US oil, now he is going to unfreeze Russian assets. The next logical step is the lifting of sanctions.

Mind you, this is all in conjunction with Trump saying in an interview that he doesn’t like Zelensky and would like to see him out of office.

Has anybody checked on Laura Loomer? She’s been rage-posting all week about Putin being the embodiment of evil and this new wrinkle is not going to help her mental well-being.

When Trump fully sides with Putin and walks away from Israel, I think we will see Loomer turn on Trump. And she is quite vicious (as Trump has pointed out). A nasty woman, really. I don’t expect her to be subtle about it.

Zelenskyy Resumes Refinery Strikes as Russian Diesel Deal Divides Europe

Zelenskyy Resumes Refinery Strikes as Russian Diesel Deal Divides Europe

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Thursday that Ukraine would resume attacks on Russian refineries after a three-day pause requested by the Trump administration. Zelenskyy also alleged that Washington had cut intelligence sharing and restricted satellite service. Trump denied cutting intelligence sharing, while Zelenskyy’s office said the satellite speed restrictions had been lifted.

The dispute comes as President Donald Trump’s diesel agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin divides European leaders. Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev endorsed the deal Thursday, saying lower fuel prices would help European competitiveness. He opposed attacks on both Russian refineries and Ukrainian power plants. Other European leaders criticized the agreement, with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson warning that additional Russian revenue would help finance the war.

Separately, a German trial over the September 2022 Nord Stream pipeline sabotage began Wednesday. Prosecutors accuse former Ukrainian military officer Serhii Kuznetsov of coordinating the operation and allege the perpetrators acted on behalf of Ukrainian state authorities. Kuznetsov maintains his innocence, and Kyiv denies involvement.

Meanwhile, MS NOW corrected its report, attributed to two unnamed sources, that FBI Director Kash Patel had arrived in Russia. Patel was attending a law enforcement event at Liberty University in Virginia. Correspondent Ken Dilanian acknowledged the error and said the timing of any potential Russia trip remained unclear.

Burning Bright: Well, we’ve been rugged before ... but this time, I think we actually may be heading toward the final winter of engineered discontent between the Russian Federation and the Nazi ... err ... the Ukrainian Proxy State on its borders.

And since we’ve probably encouraged both the autistic and the not-so-autistic among you to be more autistic than whatever baseline level of autism you already had over the last few years, let’s tap into a touch of said tism’ to see how Cascade thinking and Narrative mapping works by running down a series of headlines, and how they tell the direction of the story being (re)programmed into the Collective Mind.

1) ‘Defiant Zelenskyy Resumes Russian Refinery Drone Strikes’

This is a good table-setter.

Zelenskyy (Our Boy Z, for those who know,) continues to play his part to perfection, almost cartoonishly escalating against the Russian Federation at the very moment the Trump Administration is calling for him to do the opposite, and at the very geopolitical moment when Europe can least afford the optics.

2) ‘Bulgarian PM breaks ranks with EU leaders to back Trump-Putin diesel deal’

Which leads us to the second header, wherein we are seeing core EU member states begin to publicly break ranks with the rest of the Collectorate as their respective populations feel the pressure of heightened energy prices that are spiking before the ultimate winter of discontent on the European continent.

As I have been saying for months, if you think Americans are experiencing some pain at the pump, take a look at EU Nat Gas and heating prices on a relative basis.

And now, consider who said Europeans are going to hold responsible for their pain in light of the very public and very performative spat over Russian refinery strikes between Trump and Zelenskyy.

3) ‘Nord Stream Sabotage Trial Begins With Explosive Allegations Against Ukraine’

My, my.

I’m old enough to remember when some of us immediately called out the Nord Stream 2 sabotage as a Ukrainian (with EU assist) false flag operation designed to inflict pain on the European Continent in order to force them and their populations into a war footing against the Russian Federation.

Now, amidst the wash of Ukrainian escalations and Trumpian appeasements, we get a show trial about the Ukrainian saboteurs?

I wonder what sort of revelations said saboteurs are going to have in the offing, up to and including who approved, planned and ultimately covered up an operation those implicated are already admitting to be ‘state-run.’

4) ‘Trump Admin Floats Unfreezing Russian Assets In Big Move To Restart Talks’

Donald Trump operates on public mandate.

In the US, he has had broad public mandate to break from the warmongers for some time.

Now, I believe he’s using that renewed mandate to use Ukraine’s escalations as Narrative cover for a full scale pivot toward the Russian Federation under the guise of pragmatic appeasement and deal-making.

I have been saying since March 2022 that I believe the deals are already done, and this deal has long been at the top of my list.

I have also argued that the deal that will have already been done will be virtually (or entirely) identical to the original deal the Russian Federation proposed to Ukraine in March 2022, which we are told Zelenskyy agreed to in principle and that the EU, especially the UK under Trumpian ripoff Boris Johnson stepped in to thwart at the time.

Let’s see how that particular take ages.

5) ‘MS NOW Walks Back Report That FBI Director Kash Patel Landed In Russia’

Finally, in the midst of the engineered chaos, the MSM (including outlets that Trump recently banned for publishing damaging Fake News with National Security implications) falsely reports that FBI Director Kash Patel is in Moscow as we speak.

SPOILER ALERT!

Kash Patel was not and is not in Moscow as of this writing, forcing MS NOW into an awkward and immediate retraction and apology tour, while drawing attention to their (perhaps imaginary, perhaps real and clandestine) unnamed sources close to the situation.

This tells us two things:

The Fake News remains the enemy of the people and are engaged in an active subversion campaign against Trump’s peace efforts with Russia ...

And ...

The Fake News is absolutely terrified of the final convergence of Trump and Putin in the central narrative because of what that might suggest about the endgame of the Sovereign Alliance, which includes a rapid crisis cascade against the Globalist System of Systems.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict marked my entry into the Info War as Burning Bright.

It will also mark the biggest inflection point on the world stage whose resolution represents the event horizon between the Unipolar World Order and the Multipolar World being constructed from its bones.

Singapore takes legal action against 7 Indonesian firms over haze

The environment agency will issue notices to the firms to extinguish fires on land owned or occupied by them and prevent the fires from spreading.

Air quality continued to deteriorate in Singapore this evening, with three regions recording very unhealthy air quality level of 225 in the central region, 202 in the west, 201 in the east, 183 in the south and 161 in the north. (EPA Images pic)
SINGAPORE:
Seven Indonesian companies are to be sent notices by the Singapore environment agency to put out forest fires that have contributed to worsening air quality caused by smoke pollution from transboundary haze.

The island republic’s environment minister, Grace Fu, said the notices would be issued following investigations into errant companies found responsible for causing transboundary haze in Singapore.

“Our investigation so far suggested that some of the haze experienced in Singapore originated from fires on the lands of seven companies in Indonesia. Where warranted, we will take further action under the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act based on the information and evidence available,” she said at a press conference today.

Fu said the notices seek the companies to deploy firefighting personnel to extinguish fires on land owned or occupied by them and prevent the fires from spreading. They are also required to discontinue or not commence any burning activities and submit action plans detailing measures to extinguish fires on their land and prevent their recurrence.

The minister said the haze conditions in Singapore were expected to persist for some time with air quality likely to fluctuate and potentially reach hazardous levels.

“However, as we transition to the inter-monsoon period towards the end of October or early November, we expect the situation to improve and that is another three to four weeks away. We expect winds around Singapore to become lighter then and more variable in direction, so it is less likely to bring haze from Sumatra or Kalimantan to Singapore,” she added.

As of 7pm on Friday, the 24-hour rolling average air pollution index continued to deteriorate with three regions recording very unhealthy air quality at 225 in the central region, 202 in the west, 201 in the east, 183 in the south and 161 in the north.

A heat map by Accuweather showing air quality levels across southern Southeast Asia today.

Fu said the distribution of N95 masks to vulnerable Singaporeans through 37 vending machines will be fully deployed across the island tonight. Sufficient stocks were available at retailers’ warehouses and in government stockpiles, she said.

The Asean haze monitoring centre said scattered hotspots were detected in Kalimantan and southern Sumatra, while few isolated hotspots were detected elsewhere.

Moderate to dense smoke haze was observed over parts of Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Kalimantan, Sumatra, and western Sarawak. Moderate to dense smoke haze was also observed over Papua, Sulawesi, the Maluku Islands and the eastern parts of Sabah.

Air quality stations in Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia recorded unhealthy to very unhealthy levels, while air quality stations in Borneo and Sumatra reported unhealthy to hazardous levels.
