Has Zaid “forgotten his pills, intoxicated” for mooting 3rd premiership for centenarian Tun M?

Has Zaid “forgotten his pills, intoxicated” for mooting 3rd premiership for centenarian Tun M?

FORMER de-facto law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has apparently come under heavy shelling for proposing that twice former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad be accorded a third premiership if the Malay umbrella made up of primarily PAS and Bersatu wins the 16th General Election (GE16) which must be held before February 2028.

“But for TunM to win, he has to pardon (Datuk Seri) Najib Razak and make this intention known now,” penned the opposition-slant UMNO member on his Facebook page.

“If he was willing to pardon Anwar (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) in 2018, why not Najib? Najib may have caused the loss of US$680 mil (in the 1MDB scandal) but do you know the loss to the country under PMX (presumably hinting at the US$240 bil price tag of the US-Malaysia reciprocal trade agreement).”

I propose Tun M as the next PM if the Malay umbrella wins most of the seats. Malay Umbrella includes PAS Bersatu and the smaller parties

But for Tun to win, he has to pardon Najib Razak and make this intention known now. If he was willing to pardon Anwar in 2018, why not Najib? Najib may have caused the loss of US$680 million, but do you know the loss to the country under PMX?

Added the incarcerated Najib’s defence counsel for a short spell: “This is the last opportunity for the Malays to regain control of the country and govern it in the spirit of Merdeka.

“What is the point of insisting that the country be known as Tanah Melayu when the Malay leaders have completely surrendered themselves to forces in and outside the country without a fight?”

Henceforth, Zaid’s verdict is that the mentor-turned-nemesis of PMX is “for all his flaws, TunM is still a true patriot (in that) his contributions to the country have been unmatched by anyone since”.

“He can re-build us. I beseech Tuan Guru (PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang) and Muhyiddin (Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) to give TunM one more chance so that all of us have a future.”

Bombshells

As expected, detractors of the so-called elderly statesman who reigned for 22 years and 22 months over his two PM-ship hurled abuses of sorts at Zaid from likening him to “sounding like Prof kangkung Soleha” to “having been drunk on air ketum (drink made from kratom leaves)” to “forgetting his medication”.

Others wonder about TunM’s longevity to the very fact that he should have called it a day by “quietly retiring into the sunset” or the reality that “only old ginger is hot n spicy but a bitter old man is still bitter”.

But lingering in the mind of most commenters is whether the founder of Zaid Ibrahim & Co, the largest private law firm in Malaysia (which he no longer owns), intended his social media post as “a joke or some kind of sarcasm”.

This is when one Penang commenter opined that “read between the lines ZI (Zaid) is just telling the Opposition that there is no PM Candidate among them, hence they need a a century old fox to lead them into wilderness”.

In other words, within his “witty sarcasm”, Zaid could also be hinting that “Atok (moniker for TunM) doesn’t have principles”. – Nov 14, 2025
