Focus Malaysia:
Netizens joke, ‘When it comes to marriages, PAS is pretty fast”
Following the recent news of Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s marriage to a police officer as his second wife, netizens are now reacting to a speech by a PAS member.
Their comments are hilarious and it is time for political parties to listen more to the criticism addressed to them by the public.
Last week, a representative of PAS Pemuda Selangor proposed that members of the party’s youth wing marry across ethnicities, claiming that this could indirectly increase votes from non-Muslims and Malays for the party.
“We in Selangor have proposed that the leadership and members of Pemuda PAS should marry across ethnicities or cultures.
“Why? Because when marrying across ethnicities or cultures…we can not only capture one vote but also win hundreds or even thousands of votes from non-Malays and non-Muslims,” said PAS Selangor Pemuda secretary Aubidullah Fahim Ibrahim during a debate at the Pemuda PAS Muktamar.
This statement has sparked widespread criticism on TikTok, with many videos condemning PAS’ stance on marrying non-Muslims.
However, one video stands out: the account @Intanluminous, known for its sharp criticism of political figures, targets PAS in a powerful message.
In the video, the creator expresses disgust at the speech made by the PAS youth at the party’s Muktamar, stating, “Marriage is about love, falling in love, not a political tool for you.”
This video is a must-watch.
Meanwhile, netizens are trolling PAS for the comment. Some are saying that when it comes to marrying two or more—that is adopting polygamy—PAS is very fast.
Others are saying voters should not support PAS because now it accepts ‘harbi’ as wives. Harbi means infidels, and going to war against them is allowed. – Sept 14, 2024
