Focus Malaysia:
Detractors troll PPIM’s Toqqi over his “insane baboons” label on informants of Global Ikhwan’s wrongdoings
THE reputation of the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) has been gravely scarred in the eyes of the public by the moral backing the NGO’s head honcho has accorded to the Global Ikhwan Group in light of an array of wrongdoings exposed chiefly by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
The seemingly straw that broke the camel’s back is the labelling of “insane baboons” (“beruk-beruk gila”) by its chief activist Datuk Nadzim Johan a.k.a. Toqqi on informants who have channelled evidential information to the cops leading to raids and the arrest of its key personnel under Op Global.
This came about after Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin or Dr MAZA expressed disappointment with Toqqi for having resorted to “inappropriate name calling”.
“I was caught by surprise that the PPIM top brass who is a senior citizen himself (63 years old) has resorted to using inappropriate words against those who provided evidence to the police for they have in fact saved lives,” the permanent associate professor with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) pointed out in his Dr Maza Channel which is accessible on YouTube.
Mufti Perlis Dato' Dr. Mohd Asri bin Zainul Abidin terkilan dengan kenyataan Pengerusi PPIM, Datuk Nadzim Johan atau Toq Qi yang menggelarkan pemberi-pemberi maklumat isu berkaitan GISBH sebagai "Beruk-beruk Gila".

“His action which is both uncalled for and has gone beyond limit makes me wonder what’s the role of PPIM (and its connection with Global Ikhwan) if that’s indeed what he’s (Toqqi) doing.”
In fact, the re-posting of Dr MAZA’s views on the X platform by political influencer Mr.Nazril (@Nazril_Iznil) who wondered “what is the significance behind Toqqi labelling someone as an animal” has gotten many netizens fuming.
“Indirectly, this Toqqi calls the Perlis Mufti an ‘insane baboon’. Why is he so keen to cover up for GISBH?” asked one commenter while another wondered if Toqqi has also assumed “the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) of having entertained the ‘insane baboons’”.
Interestingly, Mr.Nazril had updated his post shortly later by inserting a comment on why PPIM or Toqqi could have a soft spot for GISBH (Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings). It seems that GISBH’s CEO was appointed as PPIM’s CEO by Toqqi himself on July 19, 2022.
One commenter urged for the revocation of Toqqi’s Datukship while another commended Dr MAZA for his prayers at the end of his podcast that “the IGP and his team are accorded great reward for their good deeds by Allah SWT”.
At the end of the day, some commenters assumed that PPIM’s moral backing of GISBH is all about “corporate tit-for-tat” or bluntly speaking, “you scratch my back, I scratch yours”. – Sept 20, 2024
