Najib adjusting to new routine in jail, says daughter

Najib Abdul Razak's daughter Nooryana Najwa said the former prime minister is still adjusting to his new schedule as a prison inmate.

In her Instagram story posted last night, Nooryana said Najib's lawyer had managed to meet her father in Kajang Prison yesterday and that he was still in good spirits.

"I am sure that many had been waiting to know the latest update on Bossku," she started her story, referring to Najib's moniker.

"Today, a representative from his legal team managed to meet with daddy in Kajang Prison. Alhamdulillah, daddy is still in good health, and he is also still in strong spirits.

"Daddy has also been provided with his basic necessities, and he is getting used to his new routine - which is different from Bossku's usual packed schedule," she said.

Najib, who served as the country's sixth prime minister between 2009 and 2018, was sent to the Kajang Prison on Tuesday to start his 12-year jail sentence after the Federal Court upheld his criminal convictions concerning seven charges linked to RM42 million of funds from SRC International.

Nooryana also expressed her family's appreciation to Kajang Prison officers for their concern about Najib.

"Thank you to all the officers and guards at Kajang Prison for their concern about my father's situation.

"We really appreciate their concern."
