PN pledges free water for Johor if elected

Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali said he had travelled across every district in Johor and was still hearing complaints from the people, including about water supply.
SIMPANG RENGGAM: Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali has proposed the provision of free water for Johor residents if Perikatan Nasional (PN) is given the mandate to govern the state in Saturday’s election.
He said the proposal should be considered as part of efforts to ensure that every household in Johor enjoys uninterrupted access to clean water.
“I have been in Johor for a month. I have travelled across every district, and I am still hearing complaints from the people about various issues.
“The first is the water supply. Many districts and villages have experienced water disruptions. Some areas are under rationing.
“I have been to Sedili twice, and residents tell me they have gone without water for three consecutive months,” he said at the Rapat Rakyat Layang-Layang programme in Kampung Chokro here last night.
Azmin, a former Selangor menteri besar, said his experience governing the state had shown that a free water initiative could be implemented if the government prioritised the people’s welfare.
He said PN representatives in Johor should press the state government to resolve the water supply issue in the people’s interest.
“If I could do it, I am confident that our candidate, Abdul Mutalip Abd Rahim, can also raise the matter in the Johor state assembly.
“Whoever forms the government must ensure that clean water is supplied to every household, every district and every village in Johor. Better still, provide free water to the people of Johor.”
PN has fielded Mutalip in the Layang-Layang state seat, where he will face Chua Jian Boon of Barisan Nasional and B Guna of Pakatan Harapan.
