Court defers hearing to suspend legal challenge by Pamela Ling’s lawyers

Lawyer proposes adjourning the hearing to see if Bukit Aman has any updates on the Sarawakian's disappearance in April last year

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has postponed the hearing of an application to suspend a legal challenge against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) filed by the legal team of missing Sarawakian Pamela Ling.
Ling’s lawyer Surendra Ananth told reporters he proposed that the court adjourn the hearing today to see if there are any updates from Bukit Aman on her disappearance.
He added that the court fixed another hearing date on Dec 7.
Senior federal counsel Faisal Noor appeared for MACC and the government.
Ling, 42, was reported missing on April 9 last year while on her way to the MACC headquarters to give a statement as a witness in an investigation.
MACC launched an investigation into Ling and her husband, Sarawakian businessman Thomas Hah, in May 2024 for alleged corruption and money laundering.
In May last year, the court granted Ling leave to pursue a judicial review of an arrest warrant granted to MACC by the magistrates’ court after she allegedly failed to comply with a summons issued by the anti-graft agency to have her statement recorded.
In August, Bukit Aman said it had no leads on Ling’s whereabouts and needed more time for further investigations, having already recorded statements from 48 people over her disappearance.

The sad part of this story is that in all likelihood she has long gone 😢😢😢
