BN trio leave Istana after 40 minutes

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional’s top three leaders have left Istana Negara after meeting the King this morning for about 40 minutes.

BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, his deputy Mohamad Hasan, and secretary-general Zambry Abd Kadir left Istana Negara at 11.23am.

Although the istana said yesterday that all the 30 BN MPs would be meeting the King this morning, it was unclear if this was still happening.

The three BN leaders had arrived at about 10.40am, followed by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Harun and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders soon after.

On Saturday, GPS chairman Abang Johari Openg said the coalition would form the government with Perikatan Nasional, BN and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

However, after BN denied this, GPS said it would let the King decide what was best for the people.

Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob said BN’s Supreme Council had decided to remain in the opposition instead of backing anyone to form the government.
