PETALING JAYA: Batu Tiga assemblyman Rodziah Ismail is demanding an explanation for the PKR election committee overturning the results of the race for the Wanita PKR chief’s post and awarding victory to her rival.
“I am preparing a letter to seek an explanation (from the committee),” Rodziah told FMT tonight following the committee’s decision to hand victory to her challenger, senator Fadhlina Sidek.
Fadhlina was declared the winner after an audit was conducted. She polled 18,923 votes compared to Rodziah’s 18,891, giving the senator victory by a slim margin of 32 votes.
Rodziah had been leading in the unofficial results. She and Fadhlina were viewed as being part of the teams led by Rafizi Ramli and Saifuddin Nasution Ismail respectively.
Rodziah expressed shock at the turn of events, adding that she was not informed of the decision to revoke her victory. She said she was in the dark as to why it happened.
Earlier today, PKR election committee chief Dr Zaliha Mustafa said only a few changes to the election results had been made following a forensic audit conducted after complaints of irregularities.
“You need to ask Zaliha. It was not explained to me why the results were changed,” said Rodziah.
