Ex-diplomat, son charged with trafficking cannabis

PETALING JAYA: A former diplomat and his son have been charged at the Bentong magistrates’ court with trafficking more than 1kg of cannabis.

Zainal Abidin Alias and son Riza Zainal Abidin were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.


The alleged offence took place at Kampung Sum Sum in Janda Baik, Pahang on May 21.

They were also charged under Section 9(1)(b) of the same Act with possessing 60 ml cannabis oil.


Riza faces another charge for “wrongly” using cannabis oil.

No pleas were recorded from them before magistrate Shahrul Ekhsan Hashim.
