‘Arrogant’ Muda only wants easy seats, says PKR rep
PKR’s Najwan Halimi says Muda, as a new party, must first learn to build its strength, support and machinery at the grassroots level.
PETALING JAYA: PKR’s Kota Anggerik assemblyman Najwan Halimi has slammed Muda for being “arrogant” over seat negotiations for the upcoming Johor state elections.
Najwan said PKR had previously offered three seats to Muda but the new party only wanted to contest in easy-to-win seats.
“We have bargained for three seats, but you (Muda) are being arrogant,” he tweeted today.
“You want seats you consider safe to win because your party doesn’t have the machinery to compete in others.”
Najwan reminded Muda to be “more cultured ” and respect other political parties.
“Don’t talk of bringing about a change in politics if you don’t understand the values of manners and respect for others,” the former Selangor PKR youth chief said.
He was responding to Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s statement today that seat negotiations with PKR had ended without any mutual agreement, following the Anwar Ibrahim-led party’s move to announce its own 20 candidates.
Syed Saddiq warned of possible clashes between the two parties, saying that if it was unavoidable, Muda would leave it to Johoreans to decide.
Najwan told FMT that as a new party, Muda must first learn to build its strength, support and machinery at the grassroots level.
“If Muda truly wants to bring about a new political culture and unite the opposition, it should not contest the same seats as PKR,” he said.
PKR’s Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim also advised Syed Saddiq to be “careful and humble” with his words.
“Although Syed Saddiq is popular on social media and has a huge following online, he should remember that PKR was formed out of struggles and has survived many challenges in the past,” he said.
Muda had come to an agreement with PKR’s coalition partners, DAP and Amanah, earlier this month to avoid contesting the same seats.
DAP and Amanah have made way for Muda to contest in six seats – Puteri Wangsa, Tenang, Bukit Kepong, Parit Raja, Machap and Bukit Permai.
Johor goes to the polls on March 12. Nominations will be held on Feb 26 and early voting on March 8

Truth or 'likely truth' is PKR doe NOT trust a known acolyte of Mahathir. The Old Man eff-ed up Anwar kaukau during PH's days, even unto deliberately resigning his PM position out of spite to prevent Anwar from becoming PM.
So who's to say his acolyte won't repeat the Evil Old Man's act of stupefying treachery and outrageous wickedness. Beware all, Iblis is still alive.
PKR wants to keep Syed and also Shafie at distance (not social but political distancing) with a ten-foot pole armed with a sharpened uranium tip, wakakaka.
"Somebody" who is still a major influence on Muda , has an unrelenting opposition to Anwar, and continues to work on all manner of ways to undermine PKR.
