“Is Gurdwara food halal?”: Netizens pan naysayers questioning the Sikh community’s kindness



WITH flood victims still struggling to get back on their feet, many private individuals and organisations have stepped up to help the former.

On that note, the Sikh community has opened up their Gurdwara, especially the ones in Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya to provide free vegetarian meals to those affected by the floods.

However, a certain section of Malaysian society got sceptical of the matter, and questioned whether the vegetarian food served was halal or otherwise!

However, the public from various backgrounds berated those questioning whether the food served at the Gurdwaras was halal or not, with several netizens educating the people on what halal constitutes.

(Halal food is about preparing food using clean methods. Sikhs and anyone who practises their faiths by heart would adhere to clean practises when it comes to cooking food and its preparation. There is no need to doubt the Sikh community…this is getting too tiresome…)

Narrow minded

However, other netizens were not gracious with the accusations hurled against the Sikh community and shot back.



(In my view, there are two types of Malays. One is inclusive and the other lives in a cocoon. The latter only care about their views but without considering the feelings of other communities.

(For example, the latter group holds a wedding banquet but cooks beef and invites the Hindus to eat there without separating the trays. They will use the same knife used to cook vegetarian food to also cut meat)
