PH promised RCI on 1MDB within 100 days, Puad reminds Kit Siang
Puad Zarkashi says Lim Kit Siang is not calling for an RCI against Tony Pua for alleged abuse of power as it is linked to his son Guan Eng.
PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) promised to institute a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) into the 1MDB scandal within 100 days of taking over power in May 2018 but failed to keep its pledge, says an Umno leader.
Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi said it was therefore odd that DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang was now asking him whether he agreed to an RCI being set up on 1MDB.
“After 22 months or 660 days of helming the government, his PH coalition completely ignored the promise. It was among the 10 pledges they made after winning the last general election.
“Did the PH government change its mind and chose to charge former prime minister Najib Razak because they feared this may go against its planned script?” he asked in a Facebook post today.

Yesterday, Puad accused Lim of being “the most hypocritical politician” for being selective in asking for an RCI on the 1MDB scandal but ignoring other serious allegations involving prominent leaders.
Puad also reminded Lim that he has not responded to his challenge to call for an RCI on allegations by former attorney-general Tommy Thomas that there was political interference in the appointment of judges.
“In fact, Kit Siang’s name is often associated with the appointment of Thomas as the attorney-general then. This is especially so as he was the one who dropped his son’s corruption case after being appointed AG.”
On the latest book by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, where he alleged that DAP’s Tony Pua had abused his powers as then finance minister Lim Guan Eng’s aide, Puad challenged Kit Siang to call for an RCI over this, too.
He said the “heavy” allegations made by Mahathir had involved serious abuse of power by Pua. “But Kit Siang will not dare to do so as it involves his son as the former finance minister. That is why I say he is a hypocrite and is highly selective when calling for RCIs.”
In his book, titled Capturing Hope: The Struggle Continues For A New Malaysia, released yesterday, Mahathir had singled out a senior DAP man, described as a trusted adviser to Guan Eng, over his unauthorised involvement in government business. He did not name Pua.

KT seems enamoured with every statement from Puad Zarkashi, a known unethical UMNO attack dog , just because of his evil spite against Lim Kit Siang.

ReplyDeleteAs far as I can recall, there has been no follow up after the completion of an RCI despite the recommendations. The Lingam RCI is a classic example of an excercise of wasted time, effort and money.
