Millennials as PM-designate?

MM Online - Azmin, Izzah floated as millennials’ PM choices, but voters warned against idolatry (extracts):

Azira Aziz

PETALING JAYA, Jan 6 — Amid a push for the federal Opposition to name its candidate for prime minister, an activist has cautioned against pinning all hopes on and idolising one single person to lead Malaysia.

Activist Azira Aziz said that it would be a “danger” to view a single person as the ideal prime minister, arguing that there is no necessity to do so and that it is better to focus on the public’s needs.

“In today’s discussion, I cannot give you a name from me because it is not me who personally appoints the person, it’s the supreme council of any political coalition, it’s not going to be any of us.

“Who is the ideal one singular person? This is dangerous, we cannot idealise one single person — that is people worship, people are human beings, even the highest heroes are flawed,” she said in a forum last night title “Who is the millenials’ choice of prime minister?” by the Malaysia Baru movement.

Gen X volunteer more than other generations

First of all, Azmin Ali at 54 is NOT a Millennial or Generation Y, though Nurul Izzah at 37 is.

Azmin Ali belongs to the Generation X which preceded Millennials (Gen Y).

Now that's out of the way, we can discuss potential Gen X or Gen Y (Millennials) as PM-designates. Chinese like Guan Eng and Indians like Gobind can sit back and relax as they won't qualify, wakakaka.

In my book, Azmin Ali can be a PM-designate, though I personally think he is too sneaky and treacherous, wakakaka. But ironically these are the very qualities an astute politician should have in order to survive in such a career.

now who shall I stab next?

wakakaka

In his days, Mahathir had plenty (sneakiness and treachery), Hussein Onn was too honest, AAB? hmmm, I think he was 50:50, and of course Najib has plenty too, wakakaka.

Why do I believe Azmin Ali is sneaky and treacherous?

Because of two Sarawak state elections and how his PKR shafted DAP kau kau.

Because of the post Kajang by-election and how he shafted Pakatan Rakyat and Wan Azizah kau kau, apart from pompous Khalid Ibrahim who was already shafted by his party.

Much much earlier, because of PKR intra-party elections and how he shafted Nurul Izzah and Zaid Ibrahim kau kau, wakakaka.

Even earlier, because also of PKR intra-party elections, how he managed to get Anwar to shaft Nallakaruppan kau kau in order to get the party's last VP position, a feat which Mukhriz failed to achieve in UMNO.

Etc etc etc.

And how he ampu HRH very very very carefully - it's his skill but I have to confess the way he did it made my skin crawl, wakakaka.

Anyway, Azmin Ali as a Malay would be suitable for the PM-designate position. He has everything going for him - being a Malay, correct age, right connections to both Anwar and Mahathir (and also to PAS), experience as MB of Selangor, a dearth of suitable competitors and very astute qualities as a crafty politician.

Nurul Izzah?

Sorry to say but she is only idolised for her father's iconic stature. Without Anwar, she is nobody just like Mukhriz is nobody without his father. She is also far too inexperienced and easily conned into awkward positions or reckless statements.

During her Philippine's visit, she was somehow photographed in a chummy shot with the daughter of a man who was involved in foreign intrusion into Lahad Datu, Sabah, which not only saw a number of our police personnel killed but a couple of them having their faces and bodies mutilated by those alien intruders.

Was she led into that embarrassing situation like a goofy gullible guppy?

In early November 2012, Nurul came under siege for allegedly expressing her support for freedom of religion for all Malaysians, including Malays, in a forum titled “Islamic state? Which vision? Whose responsibility”.

She was so reported by FMT in its news article Nurul Izzah backs religious freedom for all.

Needless to say, UMNO jumped eagerly on her for that, with another sweetie, deputy minister Mashitah Ibrahim out to get her in some legal way, while Dr Mahathir also criticised her for her alleged unIslamic statement.

The now-defunct The Malaysian Insider ran a news article that said Dr M joins fray against Nurul Izzah, says Muslims don’t quit Islam where he stated “We are Muslims. We do not change our religion. Others … their beliefs perhaps permit them to convert. We should not be too taken by western thoughts.”

Of course that was during the days when he was still in UMNO, lording over what he hope would be a compliant Najib, wakakaka.

Obviously the 'religious freedom' shit by then hit the fan, and poor panicky sweetie, accused of apostasy, scooted off to seek cover from Dr Asri's umbrella.

Activist Siti Kasim said: “I believe Nurul was just trying to impress the people. She didn’t think of the consequences. There’s nothing wrong about it [freedom of religion], she is saying the truth. I expected a hoo-ha after that. But as a politician, you just need to stick to the truth."

"In the following days she ‘retracted’ her remark, and said she did not support apostasy. But indirectly when you say you support freedom of religion, and if Malay wants to get out from Islam, that’s apostasy.”

Nurul could have made that indiscreet statement in a silly attempt to impress her audience. She was/is far too inexperienced and easily carried away, and as her Mum recently said, Nurul has been the manja type, a very charming characteristic but not quite helpful to her political career if she intends to ascend to higher levels.

I am not sure why there have been many calls for her to become a PM-designate, even several years ago. This has been exactly what activist Azira Aziz has warned as political idolatry.

As for Mukhriz, the only reason why he has been nominated by PKR people as DPM-designate is because of their attempt to mollify his father after choosing Azmin. They don't want Mahathir as Pakatan's PM-designate, wakakaka.

Zaid Ibrahim is too much of a loose cannon and a liberal for Malays to accept as PM. And Saifuddin Abdullah is deem too 'soft' (like Hussein Onn but without brother-in-law Tun Razak or a blue-ribbon pedigree traced to Onn Jaafar). i like both of them.

But the person I have admiration for is Amanah's Hanipa Maidin. Alas, his party is too small to be taken seriously so his chances to be PM-designate are virtually zero.

Besides he belongs to an Islamic-based party which will frighten the shit out of non-Muslim voters, mainly because of the arrogant racist behaviour of Amanah's Mothership. Pity!

  1. The Qur'an declares that "there is no compulsion in religion". Thus it makes it easy and clear a religion that is not voluntarily embraced is no religion at all.

Does the syariah court have the right to excommunicate (takfiri) under 121(1A)? What if violent/active hostility of Muslims coexisted with one's apostasy?

The paradox must be earnestly resolved by the religious and secular courts.

KT should ask for Hanipa Maidin's opinion since you have admiration for him.

    2. Yes Sir, you got my drift. But this is not a thread on 121 (1A). Just supporting Nurul Izzah's view on religious freedom.

  2. If it were up to me, I would hang Nurul from a gibbet in front of Bangsar mosque as a warning to those who betray the country.
