Osama bin Laden as Ambassador to USA?

Imagine Saudi Arabia sending Osama bin Laden as ambassador to the USA, or Indonesia despatching Abu Bakar Ba’asyir as envoy to Australia.

Wouldn’t that just be the height of insult (and idiocy), sending a man who hates a country as ambassador to it?

President Bush is doing just that, sending John Bolton as ambassador to the UN. Bolton has expressed his hatred for the UN regularly. What does Bush hopes to achieve by his appointment other than to show the utmost disrespect for the world’s body.

Bolton is also damaged goods, a new ambassador who is not supported by Congress. His appointment has been in total defiance of traditional norms. Bush exploited a Congressional recess which permitted the president to appoint an envoy without the approval of Congress.

Bush's staff blame the uncooperative Democrats for opposing the nomination of John Bolton, but the truth is even some Republican Party senators have serious doubts as to Bolton's suitability. What representative authority can such a man carry with him to the UN when his appointment has not been endorsed by the American Congress?

Bolton has demonstrated all the lows that one may expect of a real rotten subordinate and superior. As a subordinate, he was disloyal to Colin Powell by withholding vital information from the former Secretary of State. That's why Condoleezza Rice doesn't want him in the State Department anymore, and has kicked him sideways into the UN. As a superior he had bullied and threatened his staff when they didn't or refused to massage intelligence to dovetail with the neo-cons' Machiavellian plan, namely to build up cases against personalities and nations they have sinister designs against.

Bolton has demonstrated contempt for the UN. From that, we may expect this man to be a spoiler rather than a positive productive envoy for the USA.

The only person that seems to be happy is Condoleezza Rice. She has finally gotten rid of a very treacherous and dangerous person from her Department.
