KLUANG
Poison pen letters are being distributed urging Chinese voters in the Mahkota state constituency not to cast their votes at the by-election on Sept 28, according to Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi.

Wong, who is Kluang Pakatan Harapan by-election coordinator, said complaints were received last night regarding the distribution of letters written in Chinese at several housing areas.

I consider this a dirty tactic because we should be encouraging people to vote. So, I urge voters to go out and vote to strengthen the unity government for political stability,
she told reporters here today. Wong hoped those responsible would put an end to such actions.

The Mahkota by-election is a contest between Barisan Nasional candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah and Perikatan Nasional candidate Haizan Jaafar. The by-election was called following the death of assemblyman Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, 63, on Aug 2.
