PETALING JAYA: Another PKR election candidate has called for a forensic audit of the recently held party polls, following doubts cast on the electoral process of late.

Farah Ariana, a candidate for the PKR Youth committee, said mere assumptions are not good enough to explain doubts cast over the polls.

“A justification that members are not obliged to vote for top leadership posts in answering doubts over voting numbers was not enough.

“To further clear the air, other approaches are needed to clear up suspicion among members over the polls. “I support a call for a forensic audit of the polls in the name of transparency,” she said in a statement.

Former Perak PKR leader Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak had said earlier today that a forensic audit was necessary to settle doubts about voter manipulation and lack of transparency in the counting process.

He had said on Thursday that there was a discrepancy of more than 26,000 votes being unaccounted for and that voting figures did not tally.

However, PKR election chief Dr Zaliha Mustafa said last night that not all 147,000 voters had cast their ballots to elect the central leadership, and that many members had decided to vote only for leaders at the divisional level.

Farhash was also a divisional candidate. He had contested the Gombak division chairmanship against the incumbent, Amirudin Shari. The two were also rivals for one of the four vice-presidential posts.
