No issues with DAP when I left, says ex-rep Norhizam

Former DAP member Norhizam Hassan Baktee says the general public is angry with Lim Guan Eng, the party’s secretary-general.
AYER KEROH: Norhizam Hassan Baktee says he had no personal issues with the DAP when he decided to quit the party last year, although he can no longer stay silent over some of the accusations made against him.
Norhizam maintained that he left the DAP and backed the previous state government purely to serve his constituents better, adding he did not want to be a part of an opposition who would criticise everything the administration did.
He said not being a part of the state government meant that he could not fulfill what he had promised his voters when he was in Pakatan Harapan.
“That’s why I left the party and became an independent. And now I’m still independent. I’m free to speak out and I’m free to defend the people of Pengkalan Batu.
“No, I had no issues (with the DAP). I don’t like talking about politics. After I left the DAP, I didn’t talk about politics. Did you see any (statements)? There was none.
“But since some people have been pestering me to this day, now is the time for me to respond and explain to the community at large. How can I help the people of Pengkalan Batu if I was in the opposition?” he said in an interview with FMT.
Norhizam had been a DAP member since 2005 before his sacking in March 2020. He said he had given his soul to DAP after following in his father’s footsteps in joining the party.
His father, Hassan Baktee Mohd, had contested for the Bachang seat twice on behalf of the DAP, before the seat was renamed Pengkalan Batu.
“I’ve been arrested, locked up, detained for seven days and brought to court for fighting for DAP,” he said, though he had no regrets quitting the party.
“Why should I regret? Today, if I were to contest on a DAP ticket, I think I might lose. The general population is angry with Lim Guan Eng. Why? Ask Lim what he did when he was the finance minister,” said Norhizam.

Having served as an executive councillor in both the PH and Barisan Nasional-led state governments, Norhizam said both administrations were “just the same”.
“In PH’s time, we saw that what made people angry was this too: in the state exco meetings, policy decisions would be left hanging.
“In this (BN-led) state government meanwhile, decisions failed to be made, got postponed but the issues aren’t brought back to the exco meeting,” he said, adding that exco meetings were supposed to be the highest decision-making body in the state.
Norhizam and three other assemblymen withdrew their support for the previous state government last month, which paved the way for the current state elections.
He said it would have been easier for him and the other three to have kept quiet about the issues in the BN-led government rather than acting on their concerns and retracting their support.
“We had big salaries. If we didn’t retract support, we’d be fine. But it’s because we couldn’t stand seeing the greed before our eyes… that’s why we retracted our support.”

Wakakakaka…
ReplyDeleteWhat a dumb carpetbagger, trying his trade on the short memory of the rakyat!
"No, I had no issues (with the DAP). I don’t like talking about politics. After I left the DAP, I didn’t talk about politics."
Did anyone remember his fart when he declared his resignation from DAP?
Ditto too with "not talking about politic".
Then WHY joined DAP, a political party?
Blurred carpetbagger was thinking that DAP was desperate enough to promote a melayu in order to win it's tamed ketuanan bashing tag. & he was right!
Now he is trying to he smartalecky AGAIN.
Sad indeed. In the ketuanan camp this mfer wouldn't be considered as a teaboy for the mekayu elite. Yet in DAP camp he is a captured jewel of fart!
