Take interest in economic matters, Kadir Jasin tells the Bumiputera



THE Malays and other Bumiputera communities must take interest and learn about economics to understand national policies, said former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leader A Kadir Jasin.

“The Bumiputera community may not be that interested to know issues pertaining to the economy despite realising its importance.

“Even if they are interested, the Bumiputera often mix it up with politics. As a result, it created huge losses to the community as they don’t understand that it’s not necessary for both to be intertwined,” he said, in a Facebook post.

In reference to the Chinese, Kadir said the community often clash when it comes to political ideology but always have one voice when it comes to the economy and business matters.

“That’s why although a majority of the Chinese community no longer support the ruling coalition, they continue to thrive in the economic sector as they know how to separate between politics and business,” he opined.

Do away with corrupt practises

Citing the programmes launched by former Prime Minister Tan Sr Muhyiddin Yassin and his successor Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Kadir claimed that the Bumiputera community are divided over it due to political sentiments.

However, he added, the Chinese community are more focused on the RM400 bil allocated under the 12th Malaysia Plan.

“Therefore, it’s important for the Bumiputera communities to learn, understand and make use of the economic programmes launched by the Government, albeit having differing political views.

“As for the Government, please do not discriminate against the people just because of their political affiliation.

“And please get rid of cronyism and nepotism, in addition to corruption. If graft is part of your consideration, then the Bumiputera communities will continue to get sidelined, except for the corrupt,” Kadir concluded. – Oct 3, 2021.
