Bapak Ops Lallang

Many feel that if we aren’t for Anwar yet, we ought to be by now, given that we have no choice in the face of an evil BN.

There’s no doubt the UMNO government has abused the ISA to detain people like Teresa Kok, and merely on the say so of a sore loser trouble maker who claimed Teresa had prohibited the azan call.

The real cause was just a defective loudspeaker at the mosque. Please read Malaysiakini Faulty PA system the cause of 'silent' azan to learn that “… Masjid Kota Damansara officials have denied that their mosque had ceased sounding the azan from its loudspeakers due to pressure from non-Muslims. They clarified that it was a damaged amplifier that resulted in the calls to prayers to be made without the aid of a PA system.”

Of course the government knows it had been a unserviceable loudspeaker but the opportunity presents itself for their nefarious intimidation tactic.

I believe journalist Tan Hoon Cheng was detained to appease the UMNO diehards who weren’t impressed by Najib’s apology or/and Ahmad Ismail’s suspension – it was a quid pro quo bullsh*t. See my earlier post Arrest of Tan Hoon Cheng - Act of gargantuan stupidity.

Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) has been stretching the edge of the authority’s tolerance envelop by his continuous tweaking of the government’s, especially Najib’s nose. While I reckon he fell on his partisan sword, on principle I protest his detention because the government has misused the ISA.

There exist libel laws and indeed there are also religious laws – use one of those against RPK if he had libelled against Najib or insulted Islam, the latter as has been alleged. But the ISA shouldn’t have been invoked against Malaysia’s best known blogger.

But while the UMNO-led authorities have been assholes in its repressive action, we mustn’t allow the real instigator and cause of all these instabilities to go unmentioned, unscathed and scot-free.

History lesson - Who was the minister in 1987 responsible for deliberately and provocatively appointing about 100 non-Mandarin educated senior assistants and principals to vernacular Chinese schools. Who was this minister who wanted to ride up the ladder of UMNO’s top echelon on his blatant ethno-nationalistic act of attempting to destroy non-Malay mother-tongue primary education?

Who was that person whose provocative act led to a storm of protest from Chinese Malaysian politicians and NGOs, which culminated in an unprecedented gathering of the DAP, Gerakan, MCA and the Dong Jiao Zong at the Thian Hou Temple in KL?

… which led to a series of ethnic posturing with the Chinese based parties demanding the resignation of that self-serving Education Minister, and UMNO Youth typically responding?

… which in turn led to the PM, then Dr Mahathir saying words to the effect that, ‘Chinese history warns of the dangers of Chinese groups gathering at a temple to protest against the authorities’.

Every Chinese adult knew he was referring to Shaolin and their defiant resistance to the Manchu authorities.

The political-ethnic climate was sizzling and the police pre-empted another potential May 13 by slamming down with Ops Lallang which saw people like Lim Kit Siang, Karpal Singh, Chandra Muzzafar, plus a few minor BN and opposition politicians and NGO personalities incarcerated.

Of course, the authorities were killing 2 birds with one stone - neutralized the potential civil disorder, plus throw a few of those they disliked behind bars.

The two public faces of the ethno-centric verbal stoush, Najib and Lee Kin Sai, escaped the ISA though Lee Kim Sai had his Datukship recalled by the (former/late) Sultan of Selangor on the urging of UMNO Youth.

That was Ops Lallang I. But the real culprit by then buat diam diam, as his wont when sh*t hits the fan.

Now – re-examine the root cause of all these current ISA abuses - yes, the root cause, not the reactions to it, which everyone acknowledges are oppressive, repressive and truly depressive. Trace it logically to where it all began.

Again, we see the self-interests of one man agitating, instigating and provoking instability, for his own power-crazy political promotion without a concern for democratic processes or the consequences of the inevitable ugly UMNO reactions. Tan and Teresa have ended up as collateral damage to his sick obsession for power.

I don’t need to go any further – you all know who I have in mind.

But do open your mind and see that in both Ops Lallang’s (though this current ISA clampdown hasn’t yet been named), they started off with the selfish self-centred obsession of just one person who wants to promote himself up, up and f* away.

So tell me, how the f* can I condone jumping to support the Devil, even as Malaysiakini reported in ISA crackdown as PM faces dissension that AAB “… is believed to have launched the crackdown in the bid to bolster his position within the ruling Umno party. He is facing increasing calls from party leaders to step down much earlier than what he has earlier promised - to hand over power to his deputy by mid-2010.”

While UMNO does have its internal war, there is no doubt that a major contributing factor to that war has been the sniping from outside UMNO.

In our nation’s history we called:

Tunku as Bapak Merdeka

Tun Razak as Bapak Pembangunan

Tun Hussein as Bapak Perpadauan

Tun Dr Mahathir as Bapak Modernisasi

AAB as Bapak Mertua

… and now (even if he isn’t a PM),

Bapak Ops Lallang (where the satanic snake slithers)

  4. You may well be right, and I may well be shoting myself in the foot throwing my support behind a man I cannot bring myself to trust but occasionally a leap of faith is called for. For all the bad he has done, he seems the most able to destroy this repressive govt (I am making the heroic assuming that the destruction of the govt will make the country better...).

I tend to agree that he is a very calculating machiavellian man. Hell, I've seen it first hand. I don't believe for a second this leopard has changed his spots. Yes, perhaps he is willing to let innocents be collateral damage in his thirst for power.

Certainly he is no saint but this assumes other adults are incapable of independent action. Teresa Kok is almost certainly no fool; we know RPK is not yet they have thrown their lot in with Anwar despite not always agreeing with him.

They made up their own minds, and so I think blaming it all on Anwar is a bit much really-still, it is great to see you fearlessly put forward your critical opinions. Too many anti-BN people see things in black and white (which I am admittedly going to do for now in response to these developments) and need to be able to understand that their God has horns. They just need to look more closely.

  6. The ISA detentions only go to show how dangerous it will be to have a low mentality politician to hold the power of a minister. He claimed to have the support of the majority. What type of majority when only 3 out of 10 persons supported him! Furthermore, this low mentality is very capable of acting like a warlord, brandishing the power given by the people to him to threatened the citizens of this country at his own irrational whims, just to serve his own purpose. A politician making racist remarks and no action by the law is taken against him while a journalist reporting the statement is being arrested! A politician making a false racist claim against another is not acted on by the law while the wrongly accused with proof of false claimed being arrested! How low the level of mentality the minister is prepared to go? Please bear in mind he is also just an ordinary citizen before he is given the power by his party and the people through the election. Please go and ask those who have elected him whether all of them agree to such draconian action taken by him towards his fellow malaysian without proper reason! It will be even more dangerous to give such low mentality the power from the DNA Act! Come on malaysian, we owe it to our future generations to protect our country against this madness! For the component parties in BN, if you guys don't make your stand on this issue by disregarding your political affiliation for the sake of sanity, then your fate will be sealed too. No more evil race politic please.

  7. This is like saying that Churchill was a trouble-maker becoz he stood up to Hitler and in so doing caused the deaths of thousands of British, for whihc he should be indicted on charges of genocide!

When you have a rotten, corrupt, racist Govt, someone needs to lead in opposing it and bringing about its downfall. And if it's DSAI, so be it, unlesss you can suggest someone else who can relace him, instead of contantly sniping and undermining his charge.

We all know DSAI is neither an angel nor a perfect man. But that's how great leaders (& enterpreneurs) emerge. From bad mistakes and downfalls which might destroy lesser mortals, while others like him will rise by the sher strength of their inner character.

As for 1987, I'm afraid Maha Firaun & his senior Knights who will have to take the rap, as should all leaders who oversee a Cabinet. The same applies to the CEO of a Plc where say, the FC screws up. In any event, it's Maha Firaun who changed the entire education system with his doctrinaire approach, for which we are still paying!

  11. Yalah, Kesian betul kat KTMoc ini. Now who is the sniper? Come right out and say it like a man, KT. To insinuate that Anwar is responsible for Ops Lallang II is unfair and just plain immature.

Such is his hatred for Anwar. He will find even the remotest connection and build it into a myopic and distorted justification to link to Anwar anything that can make the poor man bad. One way or another his accusing finger inadvertently points Anwar's way.
Kesian kat Nwar. Apalah salah dis pada KTMoc!

KT, your hatred for Anwar simply blinds you to the greater ills that abound. In your report you pay a token acknowledgment to the evil that ISA perpetuates and then totally ignore the elephant in the room.

It may be true that in 1987, Anwar as a five-year-old Cabinet Member of a government that fractioned into Teams A and B, and being loyal to his ambition and his boss, he may have had a hand in Ops Lalang I. The operative word being 'may'. I do not wish to dispute the fact as I do not have all the information. Neither do I condone it if is were true. Again 'if is the operative word.

I too was in fear and despair in 1987. But wasn't Najib's blood-curdling call for Chinese blood at TPCA Stadium that evening the more damning one that deserves revisiting, now that we are revisiting the past? (I had had to take a big risk that evening of sending two Malay girls who were working with me back to Kg Pandan and Gombak out of a Chinese dominated area in Cheras that evening! The fear in the air was palpable.)

KTMoc, let not hatred blind us to the possibility that people may change. You seem to be stuck in second gear when Anwar is concerned. I, too was wary of him in the early days, but Dr M did me a favour. He made me seek within me objectivity. Hey, that poor chap had to spend six solitary years in jail. Abused and robbed of freedom. So, give him a modicum of fairness, will you? Will we?

  12. Once again, KTemoc misses the 500-lb gorilla in the room.

The BN government is using the ISA to strangle its political opponents, including Teresa Kok who was slandered by Khir TOYOL & Utusan MELOYA. But all KTemoc can do is to spin this to blame Anwar for Operasi Lalang, the ISA crackdown that resulted was mostly then-Prime Minister Mahathir's responsibility.

  13. The Courage to Build a New Malaysia.
    -----------------------------------

The year is 2008. This is the year most Malaysians finally woke up from a deep slumber. Most Malaysians were just too busy earning their living and building up their lives to take notice that times have changed and the idealism spouted by our founding Fathers have still not been accomplished for this country even today.

It was not so long ago in 1957 and then for our fellow East Malaysians in 1963 when the ideals and dreams preached by the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj (Bapa Kemerdekaan and Bapa Malaysia) for Malaysia were first announced and was greeted with joy in the hearts and minds of all Malaysians. The late Tunku Abdul Rahman had a dream and ideals, just like Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and many others including the prophets over the history of mankind.

Many a times such dreams were hijacked and led astray under the guise of nationalistic, racist and religious idealism by so called politicians and self declared and appointed righteous and religious persons (Little Napoleons). Individuals who have risen to continue some of such idealisms are gagged, isolated, bankcrupted, blasphemied, rehabilitated or worst jailed, for it is deemed not in consonance with the dreams and idealism of the elected parties agendas.

Laws are legislated and passed at whim in Parliament to change the idealism of the Supreme Law of the Land (The Malaysian Constitution) and to cloak such party and individual agendas. It is true, Malaysia, conforms to the democratic process as practiced by most western countries in elections (even though tainted but unproven). But once given the trust to be elected as a leader or representative of the people, party and individual idealism overtook national idealism, and The Jeykll and Hyde personality emerged to be repeated over and over again at each and every election and by-election.

Malaysians have being led astray for so long, that what is right is blurred, what is wrong is tolerated, what is evil is condoned, what is fair is pouted as unfair, what is immoral becomes moral and corruption and close one eye need to become a part of our accepted daily lives. Jealousy, hatred, greed, racism, plundering and satanism starts to breed in Malaysian minds, and brothers, friends and fellow Malaysians were looked upon as enemies or as inferior human beings. Once a while, such nets were cast ashore to include anything to do with other countries or other races which do not belong to one's own race or religious beliefs.

The minds and souls of Malaysians are so polluted and poisoned for so many years that it seems that Malaysia is the only all correct country and we should rule the world by our way. Examples of countries which follows Malaysia or is it we following them are, such as North Korea, Zimbabwe and Israel. What justifications can you tell your own generations or future Malaysian generations that what you are doing to fellow mankind and more so to your own fellow Malaysians that it is righteous and correct, when, it is at the expense and sufferings of your own human kind and fellow Malaysians?

Can you say to them I did it to follow the orders and teachings of God or party political agendas? Who gave you such inspirations and idealism? Do not absolve your own wicked mind and greed nor take a ride on someone else wicked mind and greed. Do not pick and choose in the Books of God nor the man-made laws to justify or suit your own twisted and idealistic minds. You can fool others due to their ignorance or emotions at some time but you can't fool forever a man's conscience nor your own children or hopefully one day your own when such enlightenment comes to you.

The courage to change things which are not right in Malaysia nor achieve the ideals of the Founding Fathers is not impossible. Most Malaysians have woken up to the fact that the future is going to be determined by it's own citizens thru their own conscience guided by their own religious beliefs to live a harmonious and productive life of correctness and not the type of political, racial or religious correctness as preached.

Parties and their own agendas do not take priority over the Founding Fathers ideals and hopes of all Malaysians. Religion and principles are as a guide to your own conscience to make sure whoever is the leader do not lead Malaysians nor society astray.

For in the end, what is just and right should surely overule anything else for any leader or their party agendas.

Does your Representative of the People (Wakil Rakyat) or You! have the courage?

  18. I disagree with you and many others here.

Anwar is about the best chance since the formation of our nation to topple the ruling regime which is corrupt and untrustworthy.

Anwar has been in gaol for years. No man will remain the same after being abused the way he was, being removed from his wife and children.

He would have reviewed what life is all about and his ideals and principles.

Yes, he may be calculating, but that's just part of the toolkit of any politician. They have to be.

But I'm damn sure you cannot refute all the things he has been saying this year, and you cannot disagree with his principles and goals for Malaysia.

And stop harping about who he was a long time ago.

If you were a bloody infant who kept shitting and pissing in your diapers ages ago, is that what you still are now?

Similarly, Anwar has grown up through a baptism of fire.

    Give the man a break.

    Stop harping unreasonably about Anwar.

Oh, and go get a life. You spend too much time on the net and thinking about political nonsenses and conspiracies.

Firstly, don't get personal. VI has nothing to do with it.

Next, all are allowed some mistakes. Firaun achieved much that is admirable, but 1 too many mistakes which has resulted in a corrupt, racist and polarised country which is now tearing apart at the seams; therein you see the
    flaw of doctrinaire racist policies.

So, Firaun's time is up and his sabre-rattling for one last hurrah only exposes more his racist brand of politics.

In politics, as in many things, we have to often settle not for some absolute brilliant solutions but for the lesser of 2 evils.

Right now, can you usggest anyone else who can unite M'sians to throw out th eincumbent administration? If he does not perform & deliver, we still have the power of our votes.

  20. I think one can accuse of AAB administration of stupidity and lack of firm leadership but certainly not gross violation of human rights. People who rant and rave here, have their head stuck firmly in the sand. These katacrats have totally lost all their sense of perspective and accuse AAB turning the nation be another Myanmar.

AAB's administration has opened up the country in terms of democracy and human rights like no other PM since perhaps TAR. This liberal approach is directly responsible for the unprecedented win for PR in the 12th GE. Let's not forget that. For Anwar and PR, having a weak but liberal PM is the greatest gift they could possibly get from UMNO / BN. However, instead of working with AAB to further lieralise the country, Anwar is attempting to hijack the political power through katak-fication.

And this Great Snake Oil Salesman will end up pushing AAB / BN to a corner and make them react by reversing the progress that was made since 2003. People have short memories and have forgotten the kind of regime that TDM ran.

Already people (the ordinary rakyat and not the PR cheerleaders who prowl the cyberspace) are fed up with the situation and hanker for the firm, iron-fisted rule of TDM.Much of the racial tensions are directly due to the freedom of press and speech that AAB had ushered in.

The feeling in UMNO and BN is also calls for a stronger, less liberal leadership. All these machination by Anwar will only end up in the country regressive in terms of democracy.

And one man, Anwar Ibrahim, is sole cause of the trouble. If Malaysia lapses into a dictator ship, he is soley responsible.

  22. Killer's point is salient-that we mustn't forget that Badawi opened up 'space' for us to comment. I doubt it was out of goodwill, but because he felt that he had no power base in UMNO and in order to double-cross Mahathir appealed directly to the masses. He got that right.

But if he gets the credit for that, why should he not get the brickbats for what is going on now? When the good thing happened, you say it was because of Badawi but others fought for that right for years and must have contributed to Badawi feeling he had to make the decision. Ya, okay now Anwar's plan has certainly contributed to the ISA thingy going on now, but who may I ask, is the PM-Anwar or Badawi?

Anwar did not put a gun to RPK and Teresa Kok's heads-they willingly joined up to the fight. They are not innocent children being led away by the Pied Piper. It is not like all people are stupid enough to blindly follow Anwar, but after 1998 obviously very many have decided to support him (whether we like it or not)....yes, they might well be misled by Anwar, but maybe, just maybe it is the few of us anti-BN anti-Anwar people who are wrong. Something to consider (which I am obviously doing).

After all you can fool all the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.

  26. I hope we get our perception and priorities right . Lambasting MCA, MIC or Gerakan for this is way out . These political parties were caught in this unwanted mess and are also in a dilemma . They Do Not control the Military nor the Police . UMNO controls everything . Asking MCA or Gerakan will see the establishment of NOC immediately with UMNO in full control . What you are suggesting is exactly what they want . I am a politician and I read them very well . With MCA and Gerakan and other parties out of BN does not mean the end of UMNO , think carefully what I am saying . Thereis another party lying low key by the sides . MCA with the rest has only 18 or more seats . PAS has 26 seats . If they were to join UMNO , the Malays will have absolute control of the govt with more than two thirds majority . Five state governments under PR will be reduced to just one ie Penang . Kelantan , Kedah , Perak will all revert to UMNO/PAS govt. Selangor will still be with PKRwith one seat majority. You can consider that as gone also . You want this situation ot happen , than continue asking MCA and Gerakan to leave . The Malays will be the govt and the Chinese and Indian based parties will ALL be in the opposition .MCA and Gerakan has much to lose in this . Imagine a one man wrecking crew in Ahmad Ismail can deteriorate to this !! So what does that make him out to be ? Agent Provocator ?? Go figure out .

Do not simply follow what people post in the blogs . They may be having Chinese or Indian usernames but these people are all faceless . They may be PAS or UMNO supporters instigating young people to keep on asking the MCA and Gerakan to leave . Young people as they are not matured enough to see the overall picture . They only see the trees but not the forest .

Coming back to our issue on hand . The main culprit is UMNO . Direct all comments to UMNO .
UMNO has resorted to doing this as it has too many issues going and spinning out of control . To remain in power this is what happens . This has been forced into their hands . I had expected this to happen when they were denied two thirds majority immediately after the GE12 . But LOL it did not happen even though they lost two thirds majority and five state governments . If Mahathir had been the PM , that would have been it , Ops Lallang 2 followed up by NOC (emergency rule) .But Badawi didn’t do that . He gracefully accepted the defeat .
The catalyst or the person responsible for this is none other than Anwar Ibrahim . He doesn’t know when to tone down his rethorics or when to stop but instead continued day and night with his Sept 16 takeover thru katakcracy .
While the BN govt has legal and democratic mandate from the GE that was only held 6 mths ago, who gave these political hyenas the approval or right to topple the elected govt ?I think if we are to progress to a First World in terms of democracy, we need to start to respect and strengthen the instituitions of law and democracy rather than destroy them to suit his personal wishes.
Anwar and his cult failed to realise that the way of using undemocratic way to gain power is a double-edged sword. Even if he gains power by an act of political piracy, he will lose his moral ground (that is if he has one to begin with) and there is nothing that to stop BN from using similar tactics to undermine his rule. The end result will be a highly polarised nation with both sides willing to sacrifice democracy, law and ethics to achieve their goals. This will only mean that the country will be plunged to chaos and possibly a civil war that will destroy the nation.
5 states are held by the PR with a chance to showcase their accountable and transparent governance. This is the time to built up his team but he didn’t do that except with his personal obsession to topple the govt . Why can’t he wait until the next PRU ?
Ever since the last GE, the only thing that drives PR and Anwar is the quest for power. They have been continually engaged in a war of attrition with BN in undermining them using mostly undemocratic and unethical tactics. Their drama at the Parliament, the use of RPK, bloggers and various proxies in producing disgusting but baseless SDs had only succeeded in putting BN on the defensive and focus on protecting their positions rather than carrying the promised reforms. Much of the BN leadership’s energies are spent on countering political machinations of Anwar rather than ruling the nation.
Even the sodomy2 issue , if Anwar had not hired Saiful when told he was an UMNO mole , not promoted him on a fast track from worker to aide within 3 mths, not taken with him on his overseas tours , would sodomy2 have happen ? If he had been careful , with all those info about Saiful , so who’s to blame ? Himself or giving UMNO an opportunity to nail him ? Anwser is in my opinion HIMSELF ANWAR .
With UMNO now in this precarious position having internal disunity and calls for Badawi and Najip to set a sooner transition date and a possibility of being challenge by Tengku Razaleh and Muhyideen and 916 , this ISA arrest is to cushion all these problems within and from outside UMNO .

  29. To those people who (still) think Brother Anwar is the man to take them up to Utopia, all I can say is Good Luck.

Someone even argued, if you were shitting in your pants while you were a baby, does it mean you'll forever be tainted with that? Meaning to argue that if Brother Anwar was a dickhead leader ten years ago, he won't be as dickhead now because he had spent all those years learning how to be a savior for Malaysia.

Let me just say that the example compared a baby and a fifty-something year old man (ten years ago).

Sorry to say, but that 50 something year old man is harder to change from being a dickhead leader than a baby from growing up and stopping to shit in his pants.

Look at what he was alleged to have done with Saiful.

I mean, after those years in prison, he should have wised up that banging a guy in the behind is not proper.

Karpal Singh was one of the first to get on TDM's back about having a homosexual as his Deputy PM.

Mat Sabu was the first guy in 1996 to give him the appelation, al-jubori.

I just saw an old tape of the telephone recordings between Brother Anwar and his wife's tailor, what's his name, Mior I think, about arranging to meet at some hotel. The commentator asked what do two men have to discuss about that they needed to discuss it in a hotel room? I honestly don't know.

Many think that just because this guy says everyone is his anak, or he will clean up this and stop corruption, thinks he means it.

He even said he was poisoned and given HIV while in prison, and they thought he meant it.

He was fooling around with the wheel chair in front of people, and everyone thought he meant it, i.e. he was injured. Not too many people saw him skipping about merrily after when the people went away.

Many people believed him when he claimed his life was threatened, right after Saiful went to make his police report. People even believed him when he said the Turkish government invited him to stay with them. Sorry for the Turkish ambassador saying a few days later that Brother Anwar actually just turned up at the gates, so to speak.

So the man has told a few good ones, before his prison days, and even now after his prison days.

So if he says everyone is his anak, and he will banteras corruption, even though he was the most corrupt of all according to the listings publicized in the newspapers in 1998, then everyone will still believe him because it's true, Brother Anwar can do no wrong.

Everything is a conspiracy against him, and everyone is a conspirator against him. Even me, most likely if he ever reads this. :)
