PETALING JAYA:
Bukit Aman management director Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid has been appointed as the new deputy inspector-general of police, effective Sept 9.

He replaces Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, who retired from the police force in July after nearly 35 years.

Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the king had consented to Aziz’s appointment, on the advice of the prime minister, based on the Police Force Commission’s recommendation.

“Based on his vast expertise and experience in policing, Aziz possesses the competence and leadership needed to serve as deputy inspector-general of police,” he said in a statement.

Aziz, 59, was a deputy director in Bukit Aman’s Special Branch before becoming the management director of the federal police in 2024.

He previously served as Penang deputy police chief and deputy director of Bukit Aman’s narcotics crime investigation department.
